Mariners signed INF David Masters to a minor league contract.
Masters was a 14th round pick out of Central Arizona College by the Nationals in 2013, and has spent his entire career in the Washington system before becoming a free agent. He’s a slick defender, but owns just a .648 OPS in 552 games, and won’t be more than organizational depth in 2021 or any other point.

MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo reports Red Sox phenom Roman Anthony will be added to Team USA’s roster for next month’s World Baseball Classic.
The roster move is expected to be made official once Anthony passes an intake physical. He was among several high-profile candidates to replace injured Diamondbacks franchise cornerstone Corbin Carroll on Team USA’s roster for the international showcase. The 21-year-old burgeoning fantasy star, who slashed a robust .292/.396/.463 with eight homers and four steals in 71 games as a rookie last season will become the 12th member of Boston’s active roster to take part in the forthcoming WBC. He represents an intriguing addition to a loaded roster and could wind up playing a key role in the tournament, which figures to further drive up his price tag for fantasy purposes.
Carroll, Lindor, Holliday all injure hamate bones
Eric Samulski dives into the rash of hamate bone injuries affecting MLB stars, sharing the latest news regarding Corbin Carroll, Jackson Holliday and Francisco Lindor, who all will miss time with hamate bone injuries.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #46
Rockies placed RHP Jeff Criswell on the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move from earlier this week opened up a spot on Colorado’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old righty underwent Tommy John surgery last spring and won’t be ready to return until around midseason.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #64
Giants placed RHP Jason Foley on the 60-day injured list.
It’s merely a procedural move from earlier this week to free up a spot on San Francisco’s 40-man roster for fellow reliever Rowan Wick. The 30-year-old righty will miss the first couple weeks of the upcoming season continuing his rehabilitation process from shoulder surgery. He figures to pitch in middle relief for the Giants at some point down the road.

Multiple outlets report that the Diamondbacks are re-signing Zac Gallen to a one-year contract.
The deal is pending a physical and will reportedly pay him north of $15 million. It was reported Thursday that the Diamondbacks were exploring “creative” ways to get Gallen back, and they appear to have found the way. The right-hander was linked to a deal with the Cubs, but the 30-year-old will ultimately return to pitch near the top of the Arizona rotation again. Gallen’s 2025 season was mostly disappointing, but he’s an excellent bounceback candidate in familiar surroundings.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #30
White Sox signed RHP Austin Voth to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Voth last pitched in the majors in 2024 with a solid 3.69 ERA and 61/18 K/BB ratio over 61 innings as a member of the Mariners. The 33-year-old stands a good chance of winning a job with the White Sox with a good showing in the Cactus League.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #66
Twins signed RHP Cody Laweryson to a minor league contract.
Laweryson returns to Minnesota a week after the Angels released him; iwth Los Angeles claiming him from the Twins back in September. He’ll provide some org depth this season.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #40
Orioles signed RHP Chris Bassitt to a one-year, $18.5 million contract.
Bassitt is not the ace that so many Baltimore fans were hoping the Orioles will add, but the 36-year-old is a solid addition who has made at least 30 starts in each of his last four seasons He’s not an elite bat-misser, but there should be enough quality to suggest he can help fantasy rosters in 2026 more than he’d hurt.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters that the team would prefer Jasson Dominguez to get everyday playing time in the 2026 season.
“I would concede it’s in [Dominguez’s] best interest to be getting everyday reps,” Cashman said. “We’ll just have to wait and see how the spring shakes out, who’s standing, and then we’ll make the appropriate decisions when we have our meetings close to the end of camp.” With Trent Grishham and Cody Bellinger back, there’s no clear path to Dominguez playing every day with Giancarlo Stanton a lock to be the designated hitter. There’s still big-time upside in Dominguez’s profile, but it may not be on display much in 2026.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #47
Royals signed LHP John Means to a two-year minor league contract
Two year minor-league contracts are not common, but they make more sense when you consider that Means is going to likely miss all of the 2026 season after rupturing his Achilles in December. The 32-year-old will have a chance to help Kansas City’s rotation in 2027 assuming there are no major setbacks in his recovery.
  • FA Shortstop #2
Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Brewers have agreed to terms with Luis Rengifo on a one-year contract.
It is an MLB deal, so it does appear that Rengifo will open the 2026 season on the Brew Crew roster Rengifo was not good in 2026 with an ugly .622 OPS over 541 at-bats in 2025 with the Angels, but he’s a switch-hitter who offers versatility with the ability to play pretty much anywhere but catcher. It’s hard to see a ton of playing time for Rengifo to open 2026, so even with some power and speed potential, it’s difficult to justify him as a fantasy option
