Lobaton has spent parts of nine seasons in the majors but this will be his first stint in the big leagues since 2018. He’ll serve as the backup to Willson Contreras.

After Blake Snell got scratched and landed on the IL, eight Dodgers combined on a two-hit shutout tonight. Pages opened the scoring in the fourth with his three-run homer off Jack Kochanowicz, and Max Muncy then made it back-to-back jacks. Teoscar Hernández provided insurance with his two-run homer blast in the sixth. Pages now has 10 homers and, as everyone expected, is tied with Liam Hicks for the major league lead in RBI with 38.

Kochanowicz gave up two homers and four runs in the fourth, but the Angels wanted more innings from him tonight and got him through the sixth at a cost of two more runs. It was probably the right strategy, as the offense never showed any sign of taking advantage of a bullpen game from the Dodgers staff. Kochanowicz fell to 2-3 with a 4.56 ERA ahead of a start next week against the A’s.

Batting Neto sixth certainly wasn’t the difference between winning and losing a 6-0 game tonight, but this is still some nonsense from novice manager Kurt Suzuki. At .343, Neto is second on the Angels in OBP. He ought to be hitting ahead of Mike Trout and not Josh Lowe.

Rushing was incredible in his first handful of starts. but he’s now 7-for-43 with no extra-base hits since Apr. 21. The Dodgers probably won’t be so eager to try to find ways to squeeze him into the lineup until he heats up again.

Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters after the game that Holmes will be out “for a long time”. It’s another massive blow to the Mets’ rotation as Holmes had been exceptional so far this season. Expect him to land on the injured list officially on Saturday.

The 34-year-old breakout star opened the scoring with an RBI single off of Kyle Freeland in the first. He then came around to score on a two-run single off the bat of Gabriel Moreno. Vargas then added an RBI single in the fourth that extended his club’s lead to 7-1. He also singled in the seventh and scored on an RBI double by Moreno. He’s having a dream season offensively, slashing .347/.369/.576 with seven homers and 30 RBI through his first 151 plate appearances on the season.

The hard-hitting backstop smacked a two-run single as part of a six-run uprising in the opening inning off of Kyle Freeland. He then capped off the scoring in the contest with an RBI double in the seventh. With his two-hit night, Moreno is now slashing an uninspiring .228/.276/.354 with just one homer and 12 RBI in 87 plate appearances on the season.

it’s the first complete game in the 37-year-old’s big league career. Kelly struck out three batters in the contest and did not allow a base on balls. The only blemish on his day came on a solo homer off the bat of Hunter Goodman in the home half of the first inning. The Diamondbacks staked him to a 6-0 lead before he even took the mound and he was in cruise control the entire night. He fired 73 of his 100 pitches for strikes, getting seven whiffs and posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll try to further improve upon his 5.91 ERA and 1.54 WHIP when he does battle against the Giants at home on Wednesday.

Goodman clobbered a 387-foot (111.4 mph EV) solo shot in the first inning, but all that did was pull the Rockies to within five runs at 6-1. That would be their only offense in the game. The 26-year-old backstop finished the evening 1-for-4 and is now hitting .247/.310/.513 with 11 homers and 19 RBI on the season.

Pozo entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Thomas Saggese who had pinch-run for Ivan Herrera earlier in the contest. He made the most of his lone at-bat, ambushing a first-pitch fastball from Steven Cruz and punching it into right field to plate Nathan Church with the game-winning run. The 28-year-old backstop is now just 7-for-27 (.259) with five RBI in his limited action with the Cardinals.
