Clay was designated for assignment on Sunday and ultimately passed through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old lefty reliever carries a 5.90 ERA and 39/26 K/BB ratio over 50 1/3 career major league innings.

Not great. It’s the same hip issue that’s been bothering Buxton for most of the season. The 32-year-old franchise cornerstone was 0-for-2 prior to being replaced in center field by Luke Keaschall in the fifth inning of this one. Buxton has graded out as a top-15 fantasy outfielder this season, slashing .263/.320/.544 with 57 runs scored, 25 home runs, 45 RBI and seven steals in 82 games. Any sort of extended absence would be a massive hit for the Twins as they try to stay in playoff contention. He’ll undergo further evaluation, and possibly an MRI, to determine the severity of the issue. There should be additional clarity on his status prior to Wednesday’s contest.

Buxton was replaced by Luke Keaschall in center field after going 0-for-2 at the plate. It’s probably an injury-related departure since it was a 1-0 game at the time of his exit. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Bader will undergo additional imaging, including an MRI, to determine the extent of the damage as a result of the accident, according to a team statement. The 32-year-old was already on the injured list recovering from plantar fasciitis that put him on the shelf back in late May. There should be an updated return timetable at some point this week, but Bader’s return doesn’t appear imminent.

It’ll be a full ligament replacement procedure with Dr. Keith Meister for McDonald after being diagnosed with a UCL sprain earlier this month. Given the timing of the procedure, he’s likely to miss most, if not all, of next season as well.

There were scouts from multiple teams in attendance, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. Holmes hit 94 mph on his fastball and struck out four while scattering three hits and a pair of walks during the 59-pitch outing. The 33-year-old should be an attractive trade target for contending teams searching for rotation help at next week’s trade deadline. He’ll likely make his next start in the majors, either with the Mets or somewhere else, later this week.

It’s a tasty matchup for Wesneski as he makes his return to Houston’s rotation for his first start since undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. The 28-year-old struck out seven batters over four scoreless innings during his final minor league rehab outing for Triple-A Sugar Land last week. He’s worthy of a speculative pickup in extremely deep leagues.

Hernández returns to Los Angeles’ active roster in his usual multi-positional capacity for Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners. The versatile 34-year-old wound up missing nine weeks with an oblique strain that he suffered back in late May.

Freeland heads back to the minors with Enrique Hernández returning from the injured list for Tuesday’s game against the Mariners. The 24-year-old youngster last started a game for the Dodgers back on July 7. He’s been a non-factor for fantasy purposes as a seldom utilized bench player.

Glasnow faced hitters during a 25-pitch session last Friday and was reportedly sitting in the mid-to-upper 90’s with his heater. The 32-year-old starter has been out with a lingering back issue since early May. Clearly, the Dodgers are in no rush to get him back and are prioritizing his availability for the postseason over everything else. Still, it wouldn’t be shocking if he were ready for a rehab assignment at some point in early August.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Smith is finally asymptomatic after dealing with a lingering neck issue since early June. The 31-year-old is likely to require a couple weeks to ramp up from a physical standpoint following the extended layoff. He remains without a definitive return timetable, but it seems reasonable to anticipate Smith making it back to Los Angeles at some point in August.
