Blue Jays placed RHP Hagen Danner on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

Danner was removed from his major league debut on Friday night against the Cubs with left side discomfort and will most likely wind up sidelined for at least a few weeks. It’ll be Nate Pearson coming up to take his spot in Toronto’s bullpen.

Brewers re-signed RHP Lyon Richardson to a minor league contract.

Richardson elected free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Nashville, but the two sides were ultimately able to come together on an accord that made sense for both sides. The 26-year-old right-hander will continue to serve as extra bullpen depth.

Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol told reporters on Friday that top prospect Joshua Báez will be promoted from Triple-A Memphis before Saturday’s contest against the Cubs.

The 23-year-old slugger has put on an epic power display at the Triple-A level this season, slashing .256/.328/.573 with 34 homers, 90 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 461 plate appearances. He has also whiffed 136 times, which fantasy managers would gladly accept with that type of power and speed production. He should get an everyday role in the Cardinals’ outfield for the rest of the season which instantly makes him an intriguing mixed league addition. He’ll be in the starting lineup to make his MLB debut against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Saturday.

Lyon Richardson has elected free agency.

The 26-year-old hurler was designated for assignment earlier in the week and went unclaimed. He then elected to hit the open market rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Nashville. Richardson holds a 6.48 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and a 47/40 K/BB ratio over 58 1/3 innings in 42 career appearances at the MLB level.

Giants sent INF/OF Eddys Leonard outright to Triple-A Sacramento.

The versatile 25-year-old passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra depth for the Giants at the Triple-A level. He went 2-for-8 (.250) in his limited action with the big league club.

Taylor Ward (quad) remains out of the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Astros.

It’s the second consecutive game that the 32-year-old outfielder has missed due to tightness in his quad, though he is expected to be available off of the bench. Expect him to return to the lineup before the weekend is through.

Matt Brash (lat) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session on Saturday.

The 28-year-old righty has been sidelined since early June due to a recurrence of a lat issue that has bothered him for most of the season. He’s finally making tangible strides in his recovery though and is hopeful that he’ll be able to help out the M’s at some point in September.

Mariners placed INF Colt Emerson on the 10-day injured list with left wrist tendon inflammation.

The plan had been for Emerson to be optioned to Triple-A Tacoma, but that option was rescinded and instead he’ll head to the injured list with a wrist issue. We’ll see if they make that same decision to send him down once he’s healthy enough to contribute again. Brock Rodden was added to the M’s roster in a corresponding move on Friday.

Phillies signed RHP Casey Lawrence to a minor league contract.

Lawrence had spent the entire season-to-date in the Mariners’ organization where he posted a 4.37 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 79/19 K/BB ratio over 131 2/3 innings in 23 starts at Triple-A Tacoma. He’ll add extra rotation depth for the Phillies at the Triple-A level.

Nationals’ manager Blake Butera told reporters that the team plans to transition CJ Abrams to second base over the final six weeks of the season.

The plan is for Nasim Nunez to take over as the team’s primary shortstop. Butera noted that he already talked to Abrams about it last week and that the All-Star infielder was completely on board with the change. He’s still in there at shorstop on Friday night, so expect it to be a gradual transition. The move will add to Abrams’ already sky-high fantasy value as he’ll add second base eligibility to his repertoire at some point during this season and for the 2027 campaign as well.

Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer as the Cubs beat the Cardinals 3-0 on Friday.

Suzuki got a hold of a George Soriano changeup and launched it just beyond the left-center field basket in Wrigley, 390 feet away, for the only runs the Cubs would need on the day. Suzuki is hitting .310/.412/.552 over his last 15 games with three homers and one stolen base, along with 15 RBI. Hitting in a good lineup has been great for Suzuki’s counting stats this year.
