Mets optioned RHP Sam Coonrod to Triple-A Syracuse.
Coonrod has been shipped back to the minors to make room for southpaw Joey Lucchesi to come up and make a spot start on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Logan Allen lost to the Blue Jays after allowing four runs — three earned — in 5 1/3 innings on Tuesday.
Allen gave up eight hits despite not surrendering a ton of hard contact. The lone extra-base hit was a groundball double. Still, Allen needs to miss more bats if he’s going to avoid having nights like this from time to time. He fanned four tonight and has 54 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings on the season. He’ll make his next start Sunday against the Cardinals.
Rutschman to be sidelined through All-Star break
Eric Samulski discusses Adley Rutschman suffering an oblique injury that will keep him out through the All-Star break, sharing why fantasy baseball managers should consider dropping Rutschman and picking up Gary Sanchez.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman #22
Ernie Clement went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, a walk, a steal and three runs scored Tuesday versus the Guardians.
Four straight two-hit games have elevated Clement’s average to .310. He was at .271 two weeks ago, but he’s since gone 22-for-45, albeit with just two RBI. His steal tonight was his third success in six attempts.
  • CLE Center Fielder #8
Lane Thomas went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk Tuesday versus the Blue Jays.
Thomas’s homer in the seventh was his second of the season. He’s batting .165/.239/.237 with 33 strikeouts in 109 plate appearances, but the Guardians are still treating him as a regular at the moment. That might change if they opt to give Chase DeLauter a chance in the coming weeks.
  • NYY Center Fielder #13
Jazz Chisholm Jr. was ejected from Tuesday’s game against the Reds for arguing balls and strikes.
Chisholm was tossed between the ninth inning of a tie ballgame shortly after striking out in his final at-bat of the night. He finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. A 2-0 pitch that looked below the strike zone, but was called a strike anyway, seemed to be what set him off initially and ultimately led to his ejection.
  • ATL Center Fielder #23
Michael Harris II made an early exit from Tuesday’s game against the Mets after being hit by a pitch.
Harris was hit by a pitch in the elbow during the sixth inning of Tuesday’s contest. He’ll presumably head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status shortly. He was 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts and a run scored before exiting.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #6
Ildemaro Vargas was removed from Tuesday’s game against the White Sox with a fractured right foot.
The hits keep on coming for the Diamondbacks. It seems like a virtual lock that Vargas will require a trip to the injured list after suffering a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot when he was hit by a pitch during Tuesday’s game in Chicago. There should be a definitive update ahead of Wednesday’s series finale. It’ll most likely be Blaze Alexander coming up to replace his spot on Arizona’s roster since Jordan Lawlar is dealing with a lingering hamstring issue at Triple-A Reno.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #11
Yu Darvish (elbow) will throw a simulated game on Wednesday.
Darvish continues inching closer towards making his season debut. The 38-year-old righty has been out all season working his way back from elbow inflammation. He should be ready to make a rehab start at some point before the end of June or early July.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #6
Ildemaro Vargas made an early exit from Tuesday’s game against the White Sox after being hit by a pitch on the right foot.
What is going on in Arizona? Seriously. Vargas becomes the latest position player to be hit by a pitch in the last few days joining both Corbin Carroll (wrist) and Eugenio Suárez (hand) over the last few days. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #47
Twins signed RHP José Ureña to a minor league contract.
Ureña heads to his fourth different organization already this season after making nine appearances combined between the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Mets. The 33-year-old journeyman figures to operate in a swingman-type role if he makes it to Minnesota.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #23
Max Meyer is scheduled to undergo season-ending left hip surgery.
Meyer will undergo the labral repair procedure on Friday, which carries a 6-8 month recovery timetable. It’s a significant hit to Miami’s rotation depth. The 26-year-old righty can obviously be dropped in all fantasy formats. He should be ready for spring training based on the timing of the surgery. He showed some real flashes of potential early this season, including a 14-strikeout gem on April 21, before getting hit hard over his final handful of starts.
