Zack Wheeler pitched six innings of one-run ball, striking out five, in the Phillies’ 7-1 win over the Braves on Monday.
Wheeler gave up a season-high six runs while facing the Braves six days ago, but he bounced back nicely tonight, allowing just three hits. The only damage came on Ozzie Albies’ first-inning homer. The five strikeouts gave Wheeler his second 200-K season. He had 247 as the NL Cy Young runner-up in 2021.

Braves placed RHP Spencer Strider on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Strider remains without a definitive return timeline after suffering an oblique strain during the late stages of spring training. The 27-year-old former fantasy ace has been one of the most polarizing arms in the entire fantasy landscape this spring. There should be a clearer timetable for his return to Atlanta’s injury-plagued rotation once he’s cleared to resume throwing. His absence puts José Suarez in the rotation with Didier Fuentes functioning as a multi-inning relief weapon.
Rays say Pepiot injury not a cause for concern
Eric Samulski looks into Rays SP Ryan Pepiot's surprise issue with hip inflammation, but notes Tampa Bay says it's nothing to be concerned about.
  • ATL Shortstop #7
Braves placed SS Ha-Seong Kim on the 10-day injured list with a right middle finger laceration.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #30
Braves placed RHP Hurston Waldrep on the 15-day injured list.
  • ATL Catcher #12
Braves placed C Sean Murphy on the 10-day injured list.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #32
Braves placed RHP AJ Smith-Shawver on the 15-day injured list.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #62
Braves placed RHP Daysbel Hernández on the 15-day injured list.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #63
Braves placed LHP Danny Young on the 15-day injured list.
  • ATL 2nd Baseman #0
Braves designated 2B Brett Wisely for assignment.
Wisely loses his spot on Atlanta’s 40-man roster at the conclusion of spring training. It’s possible he’ll stick around as organizational depth once he clears waivers but he’ll have the ability to elect free agency.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Dodgers placed LHP Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder fatigue.
Snell is throwing off a mound but still not at full intensity. The Dodgers mostly care about October here, so Snell isn’t expected back before the end of May. He could well be one of the NL’s best pitchers for three or four months, though.
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #25
Dodgers placed INF-OF Tommy Edman on the 10-day injured list following ankle surgery.
When Edman had his surgery after the World Series, Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes indicated that he should be ready around the start of spring training. It’s not clear exactly what changed afterwards, but now Edman is going to miss the first two months or so, even though he’s been hitting for weeks. The Dodgers will use Alex Freeland and Miguel Rojas at second base in his place.
