The 27-year-old hurler has struggled in nine appearances with the big league club this season, registering a cringe-inducing 9.19 ERA, 2.11 WHIP and a 14/14 K/BB ratio across 15 2/3 innings of work.

ATH 1st Baseman #16

Nick Kurtz went 2-for-4 in a shutout loss for the Athletics to the Padres on Saturday.

Kurtz was responsible for 40 percent of the hits Saturday night for the A’s, but it wasn’t enough to keep the club from being shutout. The 23-year-old has bounced back nicely from his rough start to the season with a very respectable — respectable is probably an understatement — .286/.444/.489 slash.

Mason Miller

SD Relief Pitcher #22

Mason Miller struck out a pair in a scoreless outing to pick up a save against the Athletics in a 2-0 victory for the Padres on Saturday.

Miller treated his former team unkindly. He didn’t allow a hit, and he’s now converted 16 saves; putting him just below a 50-save pace on the season. Miller has been sensational for the Padres in 2026 to the surprise of essentially no one, and the scoreless frame lowers his ERA to a miniscule 0.76 for his trouble.

Lucas Giolito

SD Starting Pitcher #55

Lucas Giolito worked five scoreless innings to get a win against the Athletics on Saturday.

For those who like to watch pitchers struggle to throw strikes, that’s weird, but this one was for you. The two teams combined to walk 14 batters, and Giolito was responsible for six of those. The right-hander was still effective; limiting the A’s to just four singles and initiating three double plays. Giolito has not had great command in his first two outings, but he’s been effective for the most part. He’ll face his former club in the Nationals next weekend.

J.T. Ginn

ATH Starting Pitcher #35

J.T. Ginn gave up no hits, but allowed two runs in 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.

After coming just three outs away from a no-hitter against the Angels on Monday, Ginn didn’t allow a knock in this one. It’s hard to give up hits when you can’t throw strikes, and Ginn allowed six free passes and also gave up one of his two runs after hitting Fernando Tatis Jr. with the bases loaded. He also struck out four, and Ginn’s stuff looked great. His command was just so bad it didn’t matter. He’ll try and harness his arsenal more effectively against the Yankees on Friday.

Brycen Mautz

STL Starting Pitcher #52

Brycen Mautz will make his MLB debut and start Sunday’s game against the Reds.

Mautz will get the call to give the Cardinals’ rotation an extra day off. The 24-year-old has been solid in Triple-A Memphis over his nine starts with a 2.90 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings, although he has walked 24 in that timeframe. Mautz will likely be back in Triple-A after the outing, so fantasy managers should probably look elsewhere; especially when you consider this outing will take place in Cincinnati.

Blake Dunn

CIN Right Fielder #59

Blake Dunn went 2-for-6 and knocked in the winning run in the 11th as the Reds edged the Cardinals 7-6 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Dunn’s game-winner was credited as a fielder’s choice. He got a soft liner past the pitcher, and Spencer Steer, who was on third, was able to score just ahead of Masyn Winn’s throw from shortstop. Still, Dunn did have two singles earlier, and he went 1-for-3 in the matinee. He’s batting .351/.400/.541 in 40 plate appearances, and he seems poised to play regularly in the Reds outfield until he slows down.
