Tommy Pham has been scratched from Monday’s lineup for the game against the Twins.
Hug watch? Pham was supposed to lead off tonight, but Corey Julks has replaced him with no immediate reason given.

Chris Flexen has decided to head back to Korea, signing with the Doosan Bears.
Flexen spent 2020 with the Bears and was excellent in posting a 3.01 ERA in 21 starts. That success led to a return to MLB with Seattle, and he went 22-15 with a 3.66 ERA in his first two seasons back. However, he’s mostly struggled since, and though he did have a 3.09 ERA in 43 2/3 innings as a reliever for the Cubs last season, he was released in August and never picked up. Still just 31 years old, Flexen might again resurface in MLB at some point,
Will Pirates make more moves this offseason?
James Schiano and Eric Samulski discuss the Pirates acquiring Jhostynxon Garcia and signing Gregory Soto, who appeared in 25 games with the Mets last season and struggles with "poor command" and a limited repertoire.
  • LAA Center Fielder #15
Matthew Lugo went 3-for-5 as Mayaguez’s leadoff man in Wednesday’s Puerto Rican Winter League action.
Lugo is 12-for-44 with one homer and 10 walks. After a breakthrough 2024 in the Red Sox system, he spent most of last season in Triple-A for the Angels, hitting a disappointing .262/.320/.443 at Sale Lake. Since he’s quite versatile, he still might prove to be a nice 26th man in the majors, but he’ll probably head back to Triple-A to open 2026.
  • FA Shortstop #3
Jorge Mateo went 4-for-4 and hit his first homer for Estrellas of the Dominican Winter League on Wednesday.
Mateo was playing in his 11th game for Estrellas since being acquired from Escogido in exchange for Eguy Rosario, and he’s thus far hitting .333 in 42 at-bats. A free agent after his $5.5 million option was declined by the Orioles, he should be in line for a major league contract this winter, though probably one with a modest pay cut.
  • HOU Catcher #21
Yainer Diaz left Wednesday’s game in the Dominican Winter League with an apparent knee injury.
Nothing official yet, but it doesn’t sound like it was serious. The injury occurred on a slide. Diaz, who is playing for Escogido, was 2-for-2 with an RBI before exiting.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tarik Skubal posted Thursday that he plans to pitch for Team USA in the WBC.
Mason Miller is also in as a closing possibility. Skubal will join Paul Skenes in the Team USA rotation, which will also have Joe Ryan, Nolan McLean, Clay Holmes and Matthew Boyd available as starting options. Some announced players might drop out in March, but so far, this definitely looks like the best roster Team USA has managed to assemble for a WBC.
  • TB 2nd Baseman #8
Before the infielder signed with the Mets, the Rays were trying to add Jorge Polanco as someone who could play first, second and third.
One can’t help but wonder if a Polanco addition would have been followed by a Brandon Lowe subtraction, as the Rays are pretty well set with Junior Caminero at third, Yandy Diaz at DH and Jonathan Aranda at first (at least against right-handers). Lowe will make $11.5 million next season before becoming a free agent. The Pirates are believed to be interested in him, and some other teams might jump in after Brandon Donovan is traded.
  • INT Relief Pitcher #62
Zach Logue re-signed with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization.
It’s a one-year contract for Logue that will pay him $1.1 million. Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Logue did explore a return to MLB, but the 29-year-old southpaw will remain overseas for at least one more season. He pitched well for the Bears in 2025 with a 2.81 ERA over 176 innings with a K/BB ratio of 156/39.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #58
Twins signed RHP Dan Altavilla to a minor league contract.
Altavilla spent 2025 with the White Sox, and the 33-year-old forged a 2.48 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in his 29 innings with Chicago. He’ll compete for one of the final bullpen spots this spring.
  • SF Right Fielder #41
Giants designated OF Joey Wiemer for assignment.
Wiemer was acquired from the Marlins by the Giants in November, and there’s a good chance he won’t play a game for San Francisco. He hits the waiver wire with the signing of Jason Foley now official.
  • WSH General Manager
Multiple outlets report that the Nationals are hiring Anirudh Kilambi as the new general manager.
Kilambi, 31, will join the Nationals to work with new president of baseball operations Paul Toboni. Washington is leaning heavily on youth, both in their front office and in the dugout. Kilambi joins the club after serving as the assistant GM of the Phillies, and is widely respected for his work in research and development.
