Shreve was just signed to a minor-league contract Sunday, and it didn’t take him long to get added to the active roster. The 34-year-old will give the Rockies a middle-innings arm for the remainder of 2024, but there’s obviously no fantasy significance in his role.

The 25-year-old emerging ace has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 14 of his 15 starts this season. He’ll carry a favorable home outing against the Reds on Friday.

Gausman locked horns with emerging Yankees ace Cam Schlittler as the pair traded zeroes into the late innings and allowed just a solo homer apiece. The 35-year-old veteran served up a solo homer to Jasson Domínguez in the fourth inning, which accounted for all of the damage against him. He generated an eye-popping 20 swinging strikes and finished with seven strikeouts while only issuing two walks. He’s compiled a strong 3.41 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 86/16 K/BB ratio across 87 innings through 15 starts. He’ll square off against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Friday.

Abrams put the Nats on the board in the first inning with a base hit to drive in Luis García Jr. before scoring on a triple. He then singled in the fifth and drove in one more run with his third hit in the seventh. Abrams would cross home one more time on a throwing error. The 25-year-old shortstop is having an incredible season, hitting .291/.380/.524 with 14 homers, 45 runs scored, 53 RBI, and 10 steals across 295 plate appearances.

García reached on a throwing error in the first inning and scored on a single by CJ Abrams. He then gave the Nationals the lead with a two-run blast off Luis Castillo in the fifth inning for his ninth home run of the season before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the seventh. The 26-year-old second baseman is hitting .260/.286/.470 with 28 runs scored and 43 RBI across 224 plate appearances.

Emerson’s only hit of the game left the yard as he took Cade Cavalli deep for a two-run blast in the fifth inning. The 20-year-old infielder is already up to six homers and 14 RBI while hitting .233/.309/.575 across 81 plate appearances, proving to have very real power despite a high strikeout rate early in his rookie season.

Cavalli got off to a good start, tossing four scoreless innings. The Mariners would get to him in the fifth, bringing three runs in on a hit batter, base hit, and two-run homer by Colt Emerson. Cavalli’s day would be done after five at 81 pitches. He struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a 3.98 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and an 81/25 K/BB ratio across 74 2/3 innings into a start against the Rays in Tampa Bay on Friday.

After a runner reached on an error in the first inning, Castillo gave up three straight two-out hits to bring three runs in for the Nationals, all unearned. He settled in to toss three more scoreless innings before Luis García Jr. got to him with a two-run homer in the fifth. Castillo recorded two outs in the sixth and departed with two runners on at 84 pitches with four strikeouts. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 5.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 65/25 K/BB ratio across 66 2/3 innings into a start against the Red Sox in Seattle next Saturday.

O’Hearn drove in the first run of the game with a single in the first inning. He later added a base hit in the fifth for his second hit of the game. The 32-year-old slugger is having an excellent season with the Pirates, slashing .282/.350/.460 with 10 homers, 31 runs scored, and 35 RBI across 226 plate appearances.

Soto was called on in the ninth inning to close out the game against the Marlins with a one-run lead. He allowed a leadoff single before retiring the next three batters to finish out the game with his 10th save. The 31-year-old left-hander has emerged as one of the better closers with a 3.26 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 35/12 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings.

Chandler tossed two clean innings, then gave up a run on a pair of hits in the third. He settled in for a clean fourth and fifth, then departed with two runners on and two outs in the sixth at 84 pitches. Overall, it was an encouraging start for the 23-year-old right-hander as he walked just one batter for only the third time in 13 starts. Chandler will look to build on his performance when he takes a 4.76 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 68/41 K/BB ratio across 68 innings into a start against the Rockies in Colorado on Friday.
