Jack Flaherty allowed two runs -- one earned -- with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday.
Flaherty hit a batter to lead off the second inning and allowed the run to score on a sacrifice fly. He kept the Mariners from scoring again until an error extended the sixth inning with two outs and loaded the bases. Flaherty was done for the day at 99 pitches. One inherited run came in to score, charged as unearned. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.00 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and a 162/24 K/BB ratio across 129 innings into a start against the Orioles in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
