He may be putting the ball in the air too much, but this is the profile of a hitter who should be producing at a higher level. We may be starting to see that since he’s 4-for-8 with three RBI and one home run over his last two games. He also has nine steals on the season and should be added if he was dropped in any formats.

Stubbs gets the call to join Philadelphia’s active roster with veteran backstop J.T. Realmuto hitting the shelf with back spasms. The 32-year-old will handle the backup catching duties in his absence.

Realmuto attempted to play through the lingering back issue earlier this week, but the Phillies decided to give him some extra time off to put the issue to bed. Rafael Marchán will handle the bulk of the catching duties in his absence with Garrett Stubbs up to take his roster spot.

It’s merely a paperwork move to get catcher Garrett Stubbs back on Philadelphia’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old reliever has been on the shelf recovering from an oblique strain since the end of spring training.

It was Herrera’s third home run and 12th RBI of the season. The batting average hasn’t been there with a .230/.387/.379 slash line so far this season, but Herrera is hitting the ball as hard as he ever has and making more contact than ever with a nearly 95 percent zone contact rate. The production should come soon.
