McGuire officially joins the White Sox a day after he opted out of his minor-league contract with the Brewers. The 31-year-old will be a backup backstop for Chicago, but there’s a good chance he’s booted from the roster when Kyle Teel returns from injury.

Abner is one of the D-backs best relief pitching prospects — yes, that technically is a thing — but won’t make the Opening Day roster. Garcia and Amaya were both signed as non-roster invites but will either test free agency or report to Reno as well.

Horton is ending the spring on the right note. He followed a 10-strikeout performance Monday with this gem where he allowed just four hits and struck out three against zero walks. The 24-year-old doesn’t project as a fantasy ace, but it’s worth remembering that he was excellent in his rookie campaign in 2025, and a step up in 2026 is well within reach.

The big finish here could prove important for Sánchez, who hasn’t really been promised anything in left field. That the Jays took on $6.8 million and gave up Joey Loperfido for him suggested that he’d be a starter against righties, but Nathan Lukes was fairly valuable in that role last year and has outhit Sánchez this spring. It still seems like Sánchez should have the role initially, but we’ll see; even if he does, his margin for error might be pretty slim.

Because he was lined up to throw on a couple of the Jays’ off days, Cease ends the spring with just 9 2/3 innings pitched, but he did well to allow only one run and strike out 12. He’s right where he needs to be ahead of his official Blue Jays debut against the A’s on Saturday.

Martinez did not make a good first impression with the Rays by going 0-4 with a 14.49 ERA this spring, but there still shouldn’t be any doubt about his rotation status. Martinez’s velocity was down a bit today and he went without a strikeout, but the Jays’ 43% hard-hit rate (10 of his 23 balls in play) isn’t going to produce this sort of massacre most nights. Since nothing here really matters until the games begin to count, let’s see how he fares against the Cardinals on Sunday before starting the Joe Boyle talk.

The homer off Nick Martinez was Guerrero’s first in Jays camp after he hit two in the World Baseball Classic. He’s 8-for-18 with four walks and just one strikeout in his eight Grapefruit League games.

Lux played second today after getting scratched Saturday with shoulder soreness. He also hit third ahead of Junior Caminero again, just as he did Friday. We’re not sure we understand that call, especially with fellow lefty Jonathan Aranda set to hit second, but perhaps it’s not something that will linger into the regular season.

Vázquez was hit by a pitch in the thumb, and while he was initially able to stay in the game, he was removed for a pinch-runner shortly after. The 26-year-old is attempting to win a utility spot with Baltimore to open 2026, but obviously the results of his imaging will play a major factor in his ability to do so.
