Holliday was lifted for a pinch-hitter after striking out twice Friday, and he didn’t get into Saturday’s game. Livan Soto went 2-for-4 in that one and is playing second base again today. Holliday is 5-for-35 with one RBI this month. He’s hitting .132/.193/.184 in 83 plate appearances since Aug. 18. Anyone holding on to him ought to find an alternative for the final two weeks.

Mize surrendered a solo homer to Yohandy Morales in the second inning. That was the only run he had allowed through five solid frames before running into trouble in the sixth. He put two runners on with a double and a walk, then departed with two outs at 90 pitches. Both inherited runners would come in to score. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 3.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 107/29 K/BB ratio across 119 1/3 innings into a start against the Rockies in Colorado on Monday.

Cornelio opened Tuesday’s contest against the Padres with three perfect frames on 36 pitches. He tossed 24 for strikes and collected four strikeouts before he was relieved on the mound in the fourth. The 26-year-old right-hander will likely revert to a long relief role out of the bullpen.

Tawa’s home run was his 10th of the season. He hit a solo shot in the ninth inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead 2-0. Arizona would blow that lead in the bottom of the inning only for Tawa to give them a lead with an RBI single in the 10th inning only for the bullpen to blow it again. He’s now riding a four-game hitting streak and could continue to fill in for Corbin Carroll (back) for another game or two.

Wacha gave up three hits, walked four and struck out four. He didn’t allow any runs in six innings, but with no runs scored by either team in the first seven innings Wacha was left with a no-decision. He had won his last four starts in a row. Wacha has a 3.25 ERA this season. he’s lined up to face the Astros on the road next week.

Neto is hitting .367 with four homers and 16 RBI in his last 19 games. He’s now two homers shy of his career-high total of 26 from last year, and he’s tied for ninth in the majors with 90 runs scored.

There are surely some contenders kicking themselves for not meeting the Angels’ asking price for Detmers. He’s allowed just three runs and amassed a 41/5 K/BB over 39 innings in his last six starts to improve to 5-8 with a 3.32 ERA for the season. He’ll take on the Mariners next Monday.

Sandoval struck out seven with 16 whiffs and a fine 34 percent CSW, but he gave up plenty of hard contact, and as per usual this year, not enough of it was on the ground. He’s now 1-5 with a 4.58 ERA, though it should be noted that the Red Sox have prevailed in all five of his no-decisions. He’ll likely face the Rangers on Tuesday and then finish out the regular season in the rotation. The Red Sox will just hope they don’t need him as a starter in October.

Moore hit four grounders tonight, ranging from 93 to 106 mph. Two went for hits, and the other two turned into double plays. Still, it’s good to see him hitting the ball hard, and groundballs aren’t typically a big issue for him. He’s batting .183 with one homer in 16 games since games since being recalled last month.

Burnes gave up two hits, walked two and struck out two. He threw 57 pitches in what was his first start since June of last year. After throwing 53 pitches in his final minor rehab start, it would’ve been nice to see him throw more on Tuesday. Still only 31-years-old and with an excellent track record, Burnes is difficult to completely trust in fantasy leagues until he’s able to work deeper into games. He’s lined up to face the Marlins at home next week.
