Sunday’s game between the Blue Jays and Cubs was postponed due to inclement weather.

It’ll be made up on August 6. There’s actually a ton to unpack here from a fantasy fallout standpoint. Toronto’s scheduled starter, Dylan Cease, will presumably take the ball for Monday’s series opener against the Astros. That would delay Shane Bieber’s return from the injured list for his season debut until Tuesday’s showdown in the Rogers Centre. Cease would close out a two-start week with a showdown against the Rangers at home. Meanwhile, Shota Imanaga gets the ball on Monday against the free-falling Mets as a part of a two-start week that wraps up with a road tilt against the Brewers.

National manager Blake Butera told reporters DJ Herz (elbow) has been shut down from throwing following a setback.

Butera added that Herz will be pulled off a minor league rehab assignment and shut down for a couple weeks after experiencing forearm tightness. It’s never an encouraging sign to see a pitcher experiencing forearm issues coming off Tommy John surgery, so the Nationals are likely to send him for precautionary imaging to rule out any structural issues. There should be additional clarity on his status in the near future.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rangers.

Sung-Mun Song gets the nod at the keystone with red-hot Samad Taylor in right field for Sunday afternoon’s showdown at Globe Life Field. It’s the first day off for Tatis since May 3. The 27-year-old fantasy standout has experienced a tumultuous season at the dish, putting it mildly, but he’s shown some real signs of life recently, hitting .329 (24-for-73) with one homer and four steals in 17 games since the start of June.

Dean Kremer (quad) will make a minor league rehab start on Sunday for Triple-A Norfolk.

Kremer has been on the shelf recovering from a quad strain since late April. The 30-year-old starter will likely need a handful of outings to build up his arm strength and pitch count before returning to Baltimore’s rotation mix.

Cade Povich (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start on Sunday for Double-A Chesapeake.

Povich is a couple weeks away from being an option for the Orioles after hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation back in early May. The 26-year-old had a consultation with renowned specialist Dr. Keith Meister last month where the determination was made that he wouldn’t require surgery at the time. He’s trending towards making it back to Baltimore at some point around next month’s All-Star break.

Ernie Clement (hip) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Cubs.

Clement came off the bench during Saturday’s win at Wrigley Field after being held out of the lineup for the second straight game with left hip soreness. The versatile 30-year-old infielder is back at shortstop and hitting sixth on Sunday afternoon. He’s had a strong year at the dish overall, slashing .292/.311/.440 with seven homers, 28 RBI and two steals through 75 games.

Paul Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Reds.

Goldschmidt takes a seat with Ben Rice at first base and Cody Bellinger getting the nod at DH to face emerging Reds ace Chase Burns during Sunday afternoon’s matinee at Yankee Stadium. The 38-year-old veteran, who launched his 12th round-tripper of the season during Saturday’s contest, has been tearing the cover off the ball recently, hitting .338 (23-for-68) with six homers in 16 games since the start of June.

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will be activated to start Monday’s series opener against the Reds.

The saga is finally over. Woodruff will make his long-awaited return to Milwaukee’s rotation following a seven-week absence recovering from shoulder inflammation. The 33-year-old former fantasy ace shouldn’t have any workload restrictions after throwing 82 pitches during his final rehab outing for High-A Wisconsin earlier this week. The omnipresent durability concerns aren’t going away at this stage of Woodruff’s career, but he’s been a viable fantasy starter, when healthy, posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 30 innings this season.

Bobby Witt Jr. (knee) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Cardinals.

Maikel Garcia returns to Kansas City’s lineup at shortstop following a three-game absence due to left hand soreness. There’s optimism Witt will avoid a trip to the injured list after undergoing an MRI on his right knee that revealed a low-grade MCL sprain. The 26-year-old franchise cornerstone remains day-to-day heading into Monday’s series opener against Tampa Bay. There should be a final decision regarding his status prior to that contest.

Jacob Young (side) is out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rays.

It somehow appears that Young managed to avoid serious injury during a scary-looking collision with the left-center field wall during Saturday’s contest at Tropicana Field. The 26-year-old takes a seat with Dylan Crews patrolling center field in his place. He’s day-to-day with right side soreness heading into Monday’s series opener against the Phillies.
