Luke Jackson surrendered a go-ahead three-run homer on Monday and was saddled with a loss in relief against the Red Sox.
Jackson got in trouble when he issued a one-out walk to Trevor Story and a ground-ball single to rookie Kristian Campbell, before serving up a go-ahead homer to ensuing batter Wilyer Abreu. The 33-year-old, who tossed six scoreless frames in spring training to earn a high-leverage role, got the call in a tie ballgame after fellow veteran Chris Martin tossed 1 1/3 scoreless frames. Jackson will probably be in the mix for the occasional save, but we’re anticipating Martin to get the nod for the next save situation.
