    Braves released 1B Garrett Cooper.
Cooper appeared in 36 games last year in the big leagues between the Cubs and Red Sox. The 34-year-old veteran signed a minor league pact with Atlanta back in mid-January and has been cut loose after hitting .228/.312/.309 with two homers in 35 games this season for Triple-A Gwinnett. It’s possible this is the end of the road for the journeyman first baseman, but there’s probably another organization out there willing to bring him in as emergency depth on a risk-free minor league deal.

Brewers recalled LHP Shane Drohan from Triple-A Nashville.
Droahn will ostensibly be taking a role in the bullpen with Jared Koenig (elbow) landing on the IL. However, Drohan threw 3 1/3 innings in a start in his first outing in Triple-A, so he could also be an option for a start or multi-innings on Wednesday after Chad Patrick had to pitch in a doubleheader on Saturday.
Rea an 'interesting' fantasy SP with Horton out
Eric Samulski shares why Cade Horton's forearm injury could be a "long-term" situation and examines what options fantasy managers have with the Cubs SP on the injured list.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #47
Brewers placed LHP Jared Koenig on the 15-day injured list with an elbow sprain.
Elbow sprains are never a great sign, so this could be a bit of a long-term issue for the 32-year-old. He had not allowed a run in 2 1/3 innings this season while striking out four.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #65
White Sox claimed LHP Doug Nikhazy off waivers from the Guardians.
Nikhazy was waived by the Guardians last week, but will now find a new home. He had a 5.02 ERA in 86 innings at Triple-A last year.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #79
Red Sox recalled RHP Tyler Uberstine to Triple-A Worcester.
Uberstine allowed one run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings in his MLB debut over the weekend. With Garrett Whitlock back off the Paternity List, Uberstine will go back to starting in the minor leagues.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #22
Red Sox activated RHP Garrett Whitlock from the paternity list.
Whitlock missed the series against the Padres and will be right back in high-leverage innings for the Red Sox as they look to break their early-season funk.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #0
Mets recalled INF/OF Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse.
Mauricio has gone 9-for-33 so far in Triple-A with one home run and three steals. He has some intriguing raw tools, but he’s likely going to be in a bench role with Brett Baty in left field and Mark Vientos at first base while Juan Soto (calf) remains on the IL.
  • NYM Right Fielder #22
Mets placed OF Juan Soto on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.
Soto said over the weekend that he believed he could avoid the injured list and called himself “day-to-day.” Unfortunately, the injury was more severe than that. The team has said that a typical return for this type of injury is between two and three weeks. The Mets would like Brett Baty to take most of Soto’s innings in left field, but Baty jammed his left thumb on Saturday night and didn’t play on Sunday. Baty was allegedly able to pinch hit, so he should be good to go, which would also open up first base at-bats for Mark Vientos, who has been swinging a hot bat lately.
  • TB Right Fielder #17
Jake Fraley is starting in right field and batting third for the Rays on Monday.
Fraley got the day off on Sunday and is right back in the lineup today. The veteran is 5-for-19 to start the season with one run scored. He’s not making strong enough contact early in the season and could be at risk of losing playing time to Jonny DeLuca.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #65
Marlins recalled RHP Ryan Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville.
With Pete Fairbanks going on Paternity Leave, Gusto will be called up to give some length to the Miami bullpen.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #71
Orioles placed LHP Dietrich Enns on the 15-day injured list with a left foot infection.
No word on how long Enns will be sidelined. Cade Povich and Albert Suarez will fill in as multi-inning relievers in the immediate future.
