Tony Gonsolin allowed five runs in six innings but still picked up a win over the Yankees on Friday.

Gonsolin gets the win despite allowing four homers in the contest, and can thank his lineup — particularly Shohei Ohtani — for enough run support for that to “not matter.” It still wasn’t an effective outing, although it’s worth noting he held the Yankees scoreless over his final three innings after giving up five in the first three frames. Gonsolin will face another New York team next week, but it’ll be the Mets in New York on Wednesday.

Giants transferred OF Harrison Bader to the 60-day injured list.

The paperwork move opens up a spot on San Francisco’s 40-man roster for lefty Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson with Bader expected to miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. The 32-year-old was on the injured list with plantar fasciitis before suffering further damage to his foot in a scooter accident last month.

Giants transferred C Daniel Susac to the 60-day injured list.

It’s merely a procedural move as Susac is done for the rest of the season after suffering a fractured left kneecap earlier this month.

Astros transferred INF/OF Brice Matthews to the 60-day injured list.

Astros GM Dana Brown said a couple of weeks ago that Matthews could return in mid-to-late August, but something changed there. This rules him out until Sept. 12 with the knee injury he suffered in the final game before the All-Star break.

Brewers activated INF Cooper Pratt from the 10-day injured list.

Pratt missed the minimum 10 days with his hamstring strain. His return will push Joey Ortiz back over to third base to split time with David Hamilton. Jonathan Ornelas sticks around for now, but he’ll probably be dropped once Sal Frelick is activated.

Brewers optioned OF Brandon Lockridge to Triple-A Nashville.

Lockridge has hit .273/.345/.313 in 111 plate appearances for the Brewers this season. His demotion leaves the team shorthanded in the outfield for now, but Sal Frelick is expected back before the end of the week.

George Springer is out of the Toronto lineup Wednesday against the Rays.

Alejandro Kirk is DHing tonight. Springer, who went 3-for-4 with a double and a steal against the Rays last night, hasn’t started more than two games in a row in nearly two weeks now and there have been times when it’s looked like he’s playing at considerably less than 100 percent.

Guardians placed 1B Rhys Hoskins on the 10-day injured list with back inflammation.

Playing mostly against lefties lately, Hoskins was hitting .179/.306/.376 in 317 plate appearances. David Fry will assume his roster spot and his role.

Guardians recalled C/OF David Fry from Triple-A Columbus.

Fry hit six homers in his eight games with Columbus, so whether Rhys Hoskins is actually hurt or not, bringing Fry back to the majors seemed like a good idea. Alas, he’s not starting against the left-handed Matt Wilkinson tonight, for some reason.
