Phillies optioned OF Weston Wilson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Wilson, 30, has been ineffective off the bench, and the Phillies will send the outfielder down to Lehigh Valley while replacing him with Buddy Kennedy. Assuming Wilson gets back on track in the minors, he should rejoin Philadelphia; albeit in a role that offers no fantasy upside.

Nolan McLean

Nolan McLean is slated to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.

Clay Holmes, too. While it’s exciting news, we don’t really love this idea for McLean, since it could add to the injury risk. Primarily a position player at Oklahoma State, McLean has seen his innings count jump from 33 in 2023 (the year he was drafted) to 110 in 2024 and to 162 last season. There haven’t been any red flags yet, but having the 24-year-old fully amped and facing, say, a loaded Dominican Republic lineup in March might not be the best thing.

Ronald Acuña Jr. went 3-for-5 with two steals for La Guaira of the Venezuelan Winter League on Tuesday.

Acuña now has 10 steals in 12 games in Venezuela, exceeding his total of nine in 95 major league games following his return from a torn ACL last season. That seems like a very good sign for his fantasy value.

Edwin Arroyo

CIN Shortstop #71

Edwin Arroyo finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a HBP in Tuesday’s Puerto Winter Rican League action.

Arroyo is 10-for-32 with four doubles and a triple so far, giving him a nice .853 OPS in a league in which has just a .617 OPS overall. The 22-year-old should be ready to move up to Triple-A next season after hitting .264/.345/.371 in Double-A in 2025. He’s not a particularly exciting fantasy prospect, since he lacks exceptional power or steal ability, but he might be the Reds’ shortstop in 2027 if the team wants to shift Elly De La Cruz elsewhere.

Kristian Campbell

BOS 2nd Baseman #28

Kristian Campbell collected a triple and a double as the DH for Caguas of the Puerto Rican Winter League on Tuesday.

Campbell is 6-for-28 with a 5/6 K/BB in eight games in Puerto Rico. The Red Sox have him focusing on the outfield, which wouldn’t seem to bode well for him making an impact early on next season. However, he probably has some work to do in Triple-A anyway after a rookie campaign in which he got off to a nice start but faded quickly.

Luis Garcia Jr.

WSH 2nd Baseman #2

Luis García Jr. went 5-for-8 with a homer in a doubleheader for Cibao of the Dominican Winter League on Tuesday.

García was 4-for-4 in the second game before being intentionally walked by Miguel Castro in the eighth inning. The Nationals have talked about trying García at first base, but he’s only playing second in the DWL. He still might be a trade candidate with the Nationals wanting to improve their defense.

Esteury Ruiz

LAD Center Fielder #27

Esteury Ruiz went 0-for-3 with a walk for Licey before being removed for a pinch-hitter in Tuesday’s Dominican Winter League action.

Ruiz is 2-for-26 in nine games, and he’s also been caught twice on five steal attempts. The speedster remains on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, but the team picked Justin Dean over him as a backup outfielder in the postseason and he wouldn’t seem to be prevalent in their plans for 2026. He has one option year left, so they could just stash him in Triple-A again.

Gerson Garabito

MIL Relief Pitcher #58

Brewers signed RHP Gerson Garabito to a minor league contract.

Garabito went to Korea in June and did a nice job, finishing with a 2.64 ERA and an 84/37 K/BB in 78 1/3 innings over 15 starts, but he’s back in the U.S. now. The 30-year-old has a 5.77 ERA in two starts and 19 relief appearances as a major leaguer with the Rangers the last two seasons. While he’s solid pitching depth, he probably won’t make the Brewers out of spring training.

Bo Bichette

FA Shortstop #11

Bo Bichette is starting to tell teams he’s willing to play second base, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

This really should have been the obvious play the whole time. Even if Bichette might be a realistic shortstop option for a couple of more years, he wasn’t under any circumstances going to finish his next contract at the position and he’d almost certainly be a better option at second right away. Plus, there are many more contenders in need of help at second than at short.

Luke Weaver

FA Relief Pitcher #30
The Mets are close to signing Luke Weaver to a two-year, $22 million contract.

Swooping in for another ex-Yankee, the Mets will likely use Weaver as their eighth-inning guy, pitching in front of Devin Williams. We’re guessing this means no Mason Miller trade with the Padres is happening, though it always seemed rather unlikely that he’d be part of a deal.

Kenley Jansen

DET Relief Pitcher #74

Tigers signed RHP Kenley Jansen to a one-year, $11 million contract with a club option for 2027.

Jansen will make $9 million next season and then receive either $12 million or a $2 million buyout in 2027. The 38-year-old figures to open up as the Tigers’ primary closer, with Kyle Finnegan and Will Vest taking on setup roles. There’s always the chance age finally starts setting in here — he did finish with a career-low 24.4% strikeout rate last season — but he’s never disappointed yet.
