Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns downplayed concern regarding the issue to reporters on Tuesday, adding that he’s optimistic Manaea will resume throwing next week and potentially be activated shortly afterwards. The 33-year-old lefty was in the final stages of making it back from an oblique strain that he suffered back in spring training. He struck out seven over 5 1/3 innings on Friday in his latest minor league rehab outing. There should be some official clarity on his return timeline once he resumes throwing next week.

The Rays are calling it nothing more than a precautionary measure. At this stage of the spring there’s no reason to push anyone who is feeling any sort of issue, so the Rays will back off of him for a couple of days. He still has plenty of time to get right before the start of the regular season.

We’re seeing close to a full lineup from the Giants in this one, with the only regular not here being Heliot Ramos who batted third in Saturday’s contest. It looks like new skipper Tony Vitello is content letting Arraez bat atop the lineup while Matt Chapman’s inclusion in the second spot is mildly intriguing. Just something to keep an eye on. Once again, Roman Anthony is in the leadoff spot, he’s just serving as the designated hitter while Jarren Duran patrols the outfield. The only difference between Sunday’s lineup and what the team had been expected to use on Opening Day is Isiah Kiner-Falefa is in there at second base while Marcelo Mayer is riding the pine. He really will need to earn his spot this spring. It’s the best possible result that the Twins could have gotten from the exam and is very encouraging. The Twins have not yet announced a specific plan for how he’ll work through this, but it sounds like he should be available for Opening Day. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

Weiss wouldn’t divulge his entire lineup yet, though he did note that Drake Baldwin could be a candidate to bat second, as he wasn’t concerned about batting two left-handed hitters back-to-back in him and Olson. Once spring training really gets rolling and we see him put some lineups in play, we’ll get a better sense of how the Braves will operate.

The 32-year-old slugger had a down year for the Brewers in 2025, slashing an underwhelming .237/.332/.416 with 12 homers and 43 RBI in 328 plate appearances. Still, he clubbed 25 or more home runs in each of his previous five full seasons and adds some legitimate right-handed thump to the Guardians lineup. He’ll earn a salary of $1.5 million if he makes the big league roster.

Miranda wouldn’t seem to have much of a chance of making the Padres after the additions of Miguel Andujar and Nick Castellanos, but what if he keeps this up? Prior to a disastrous 2025 that saw him bat just .195 in Triple-A, the 27-year-old Miranda was a reasonably productive hitter for the Twins in both 2022 and ’24. If he’s recovered from that, he’s really not much different from Andujar as a player. Still, it’s going to take more than two games, of course.

94 isn’t remarkable for most major league pitchers, but Waldron has averaged 90 mph the last two years. Today, he was at 93 mph. The part-time knuckleballer entered camp as something of an afterthought after mostly struggling in Triple-A last year, but there’s still plenty to be decided in the San Diego rotation.

He threw only 12, but he averaged 95.6 mph with his fastball after coming in at 93.4 mph last season. Bergert, who was part of the Freddy Fermin deal at the deadline, had a 3.66 ERA and a solid 22.6% strikeout rate in 15 starts and four relief appearances for the Padres and Royals last season, but he’s probably out of the mix for a roster spot for now; the Royals’ rotation is set if everyone stays healthy, and Bailey Falter is out of options and set for a middle relief role.

Kim singled in two runs in the first inning, and he added a third RBI on a single an inning later. The 27-year-old will get a chance to win the second base job with Tommy Edman out to begin the year, and while there’s not much power, his ability to hit for average and steal bases makes him a sneaky play to begin 2026.
