Jacob Misiorowski fanned eight and allowed just two hits over five scoreless innings to move to 3-0 as the Brewers beat the Pirates 4-2 on Wednesday.
That’s not terrible, but we don’t like the trend: Misiorowski has gone from allowing no hits in his debut to one last time out and two today. It’ll be panic time if he gives up three next week. In all seriousness, Misiorowski was again dominant, with the eight strikeouts topping his previous high by two. He was also quite efficient; because he was on four days’ rest, the Brewers had him on a pitch count today, making it questionable whether he’d be able to get through five. Fortunately, he needed only 74 pitches to do so. Misiorowski topped out at 102.4 mph and averaged 99.7 mph with his fastball. 10 of his 13 whiffs came on his 47 heaters. The Brewers are off tomorrow and Monday, so Misiorowski will have some extra rest before his next start, which will probably come Wednesday against the Mets.
