Devin Williams tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Mets on Sunday.

Williams’ save was No. 12 on the year for him. It appears the 30-year-old right-hander is continuing to separate himself from Luke Weaver at the backend of the Yankees bullpen. Weaver has allowed eight runs and four home runs in seven appearances since returning from the injured list while Williams has converted his last eight save opportunities.

Giants recalled LHP Carson Whisenhunt from Triple-A Sacramento.

He’ll start tonight’s game against the Rockies. It’s not a pretty stream — Whisenhunt carries just a 4.42 ERA in 15 starts for the RiverCats — but the Rockies at home are a team worth picking on in deeper leagues.

With Mike Trout back for the Los Angeles Angels, Eric Samulski analyzes Trout's fantasy value and how his return may affect playing time and fantasy production for some of his teammates.

Marlins placed LHP John King on the 15-day injured list with a left lateral ankle sprain.

It’s a tough loss for the Marlins bullpen, as King was 5-2 with a 2.48 ERA in 40 innings thus far this year. There’s no word on how serious this injury is at this time, but the 15-day placement suggests he’ll be out at least until closer to the trade deadline.

Marlins activated RHP Janson Junk from the 15-day injured list.

Junk will start today’s game against the Mariners. He carries a 4.80 ERA in 11 starts so far this year, but 15 of those came in a pair of starts right before his injury. He’s proven an interesting streamer so far, and the Mariners are a worthwhile offense to stream against in deeper leagues despite some uncertainty in his first game back off the injured list.

Marlins recalled OF Rece Hinds from Tripe-A Jacksonville.

Hinds hit an uninspiring .121/.167/.212 in 36 plate appearances in April and May with the Reds before being dealt to the Marlins in late May. He was hitting .231/.296/.404 for Triple-A Jacksonville. It seems unlikely that he’s a major part of the lineup plans for the Marlins, but he may make some starts against left-handers.

Marlins placed Owen Caissie on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain.

Caissie left yesterday’s game with calf tightness, so this wasn’t a major surprise. Caissie will likely be out longer than the baseline 10 days. This will give Griffin Conine more consistent at-bats against right-handed pitching in Miami’s platoon lineups. Caissie was hitting .239/.297/.459 in 246 plate appearances and should get his starting spot against right-handers back when healthy.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports Willson Contreras’ suspension has been reduced from seven games to five games, starting today.

A five-game suspension starting today would see Contreras back for the second game after the All-Star break, where Boston would take on the Rays. Contreras fouled a pitch off his foot and was likely to sit today either way, so it makes sense to start the clock now.

Carson Palmquist will open Friday’s game against the Yankees on Friday, with Zack Littell likely appearing as a bulk reliever.

It’s the same thing that happened on Saturday. Even with the Yankees struggling and the increased win chances, streaming Littell would be a bold move. Littell inherited three runners from Palmquist in the second inning last outing and allowed all three of them to score.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Braves have expressed interest in Red Sox RHP Sonny Gray.

The complicating factor here is that the Red Sox may not sell if they turn things around — three wild card teams have been a disincentive for early trades — and they seem to be showing some sparks of life lately. Gray hails from Nashville and would presumably waive his no-trade clause to go to the Braves. It would seem to be a good match, given Atlanta’s banged up rotation, if the Red Sox do sell.

The Athletic’s Dan Hayes reports there’s still no timeline for Mick Abel (elbow) to return.

Abel underwent a bone shaving, per Abel, and is optimistic that he can return at some point this year. Abel doesn’t necessarily need to be kept in fantasy leagues if you’re in an IL crunch, but it sounds like there’s a real chance he returns.

Anthony Banda (lat) said he underwent surgery and is out for the remainder of the season.

Banda finishes with a 4.46 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 33/15 K/BB ratio in 34 1/3 innings for the Twins. 33 in August, Banda said he expects to be available for spring training. The Twins have arbitration rights on Banda and can bring him back if they so choose.
