Margot had come in at just .211/.299/.266 in 37 games for Toledo after failing to make a positive impression on the Tigers in April and May, when he hit .316/.300/.316 in 20 plate appearances. He’s still just 30 years old, but he’s played poorly for a year and a half now and was just mediocre in 2023. It might be time to take a good look at playing in Asia.

Salas wouldn’t be called up unless he was going to play, so expect him to do a lot of the catching over Freddy Fermin. Luis Campusano could function as more of a DH with Gavin Sheets and Luis Rengifo on the IL. Salas, still just 20 years old, has shaken off a couple of injury-filled seasons to hit .296/.374/.448 with 10 homers and 17 steals between Double- and Triple-A this year. He probably won’t be of use in one-catcher mixed leagues right away.

Montgomery’s home run was his 29th of the season. He smashed a solo shot off Bennett Sousa in the seventh inning. Montgomery was 20-for-100 (.200) with four home runs and 14 RBI in 26 games in August. He’s hitting .214 with a .729 OPS and 77 RBI this year.

Velázquez’ home run was his fifth of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Anthony Kay in the fourth inning. Velázquez should continue to see most of his at-bats come against left-handed pitching. He’s hitting .193 with a .664 OPS and 15 RBI in limited at-bats this year.

Kay gave up six hits, walked two and struck out five. He fell to 9-7 with the loss. Kay has now allowed 10 runs combined and failed to complete five innings in either of his last two starts. He has a 4.28 ERA. Kay is lined up to face the Twins at home this weekend.

Lambert gave up three hits, walked five and struck out six. It was a bit of a mixed bag for Lambert, who had a 6.12 ERA in five August starts entering play Monday. His five walks were the most he’s issued in a game all year. Lambert’s ERA is 3.66. He’s lined up to face the Diamondbacks at home this weekend.

Foscue’s home run was his 10th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Gage Jump in the fourth inning. Foscue was still pinch hit for once the left-hander Jump was out of the game. His at-bats are limited to facing left-handed pitching, but he’s hit 10 home runs in those limited at-bats. Foscue is much more valuable in his role with the Rangers than he is to fantasy managers.

Burger doubled in the second inning to put runners on second and third with no outs. Both runs would score as the Rangers took a lead they wouldn’t give back. Burger has 12 RBI in his last 18 games despite a .238 average. He’s hitting .238 with a .728 OPS and 78 RBI this year.

Jump gave up six hits, walked three and struck out two. The 23-year-old left-hander had a 4.00 ERA in 12 starts entering August, but has struggled since. In six August starts, Jump managed a 7.71 ERA. He has a 5.15 ERA in his first 18 major league starts. Jump is lined up to face the Mariners on the road on Sunday, though he’s not a recommended fantasy option.

deGrom gave up one hit, walked none and struck out eight. He improved to 10-9 on the season with the win. deGrom bounced back in a major way after allowing eight runs in last start. He was nearly untouchable against the A’s on Monday, allowing only one hit in a dominant outing. He lowered his ERA to 4.00 this year. deGrom is lined up to face the Rays at home this weekend.

Suzuki’s home run was his 24th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Kyle Harrison in the fourth inning. Suzuki had six home runs and 19 RBI in 27 games in August. He’s hitting .278 with an .865 OPS and 80 RBI this year.
