Jose Altuve is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s bout against the Diamondbacks.

It’ll be the first time Altuve doesn’t start for the Astros since June 10. The 35-year-old gets a breather with Cooper Hummel in left field as Houston looks to complete a three-game sweep.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made an early exit from Tuesday’s game against the Nationals.

Not ideal. Guerrero was replaced by Kazuma Okamoto at first base in the fourth inning after going 1-for-2 at the plate. The 27-year-old has been battling a back issue throughout the entire season, so it’s possible that it flared up again on him. There should be an additional update on his status shortly.

Jose Franco was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Guardians with right elbow discomfort.

Franco threw just 48 pitches across 3 2/3 scoreless innings during a bulk outing in the nightcap of Tuesday’s doubleheader against Cleveland. He’ll undergo further evaluation to determine his next steps. He was up with the club as their 27th man for the twin bill.

Byron Buxton was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Royals with right hip soreness.

Not great. It’s the same hip issue that’s been bothering Buxton for most of the season. The 32-year-old franchise cornerstone was 0-for-2 prior to being replaced in center field by Luke Keaschall in the fifth inning of this one. Buxton has graded out as a top-15 fantasy outfielder this season, slashing .263/.320/.544 with 57 runs scored, 25 home runs, 45 RBI and seven steals in 82 games. Any sort of extended absence would be a massive hit for the Twins as they try to stay in playoff contention. He’ll undergo further evaluation, and possibly an MRI, to determine the severity of the issue. There should be additional clarity on his status prior to Wednesday’s contest.

Byron Buxton made an early exit from Tuesday’s game against the Royals with a possible injury.

Buxton was replaced by Luke Keaschall in center field after going 0-for-2 at the plate. It’s probably an injury-related departure since it was a 1-0 game at the time of his exit. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Harrison Bader suffered a left foot injury during a scooter accident over the weekend.

Bader will undergo additional imaging, including an MRI, to determine the extent of the damage as a result of the accident, according to a team statement. The 32-year-old was already on the injured list recovering from plantar fasciitis that put him on the shelf back in late May. There should be an updated return timetable at some point this week, but Bader’s return doesn’t appear imminent.
