Yankees signed RHP Kenta Maeda to a minor league contract.

The deal is now official. Maeda will head to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as emergency starting pitching depth for the Yankees over the final two months. The 37-year-old veteran was cut loose earlier this year by the Tigers after struggling in seven relief appearances. He didn’t fare any better during a couple outings at the Triple-A level after latching on with the Cubs.

The Athletics claimed Rashi on waivers after he was designated for assignment by the Twins on August 7th. Now, he’ll provide depth for their beleaguered bullpen.

Juan Soto (calf) has progressed to on-field running.

Soto hit the injured list with a Grade 2 left calf strain back in late July and told reporters that he expects to play again this season. The fact that he’s progressed to on-field running just a few weeks later seems to back up that initial optimism. The 27-year-old generational talent still needs to ramp up a hitting progression, and will likely require a brief minor league rehab assignment, before he’s ready to return to New York. There should be a more definitive return timetable at some point in the coming weeks.

Chase DeLauter (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Giants.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters that DeLauter is feeling better after receiving treatment during Monday’s off-day. He added that an MRI on his left hamstring didn’t reveal any structural issues. It’s an encouraging update after the 24-year-old rookie made an early exit from Sunday’s game with mild hamstring tightness. All signs point to DeLauter managing to avoid a trip to the injured list and returning to Cleveland’s lineup at some point this week. It’ll be Jo Adell and Angel Martínez in the outfield corners on Tuesday evening.

Jack Harris from the California post reported that the Dodgers will recall RHP Emmet Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Tuesday’s game

The Dodgers sent Sheehan for a two-week stint in Triple-A to reset and now he’s reportedly coming back up to join the big league squad. His first appearance with Oklahoma City was a disaster as he was pulled in the first inning after allowing four hits and two runs. Then, he cruised through 5 2/3 scoreless frames with eight strikeouts in his following start. Yet, he’ll reportedly be an option out of the bullpen upon his return.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (concussion) has resumed baseball activities.

Guerrero progressed to high-intensity running during a light workout after hitting the injured list with a concussion over the weekend. The fact that he’s been cleared to start ramping up activity seems to indicate that he’ll be ready to return at some point later this week or early next week. At the bare minimum, it’s a positive update.

Joe Mack (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.

Mack takes a seat for the third consecutive contest due to lingering right shoulder soreness. His prolonged absence doesn’t come as a surprised based on comments from Marlins skipper Clayton McCullough earlier this week that he would need a couple days off to address the issue. It’ll be Brian Navarreto continuing to handle the catching duties with Agustin Ramírez at DH.

Cody Bellinger (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Bellinger has a chance to return to New York’s lineup by the end of the week after getting a couple minor league contests under his belt. The 31-year-old corner outfielder has been on the shelf with a left hamstring strain since late July and was originally expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks. He’s been excellent for fantasy purposes this season, hitting 259 with 52 runs scored, 11 homers, 53 RBI and 10 steals in 434 plate appearances prior to the injury.

The Yankees activated LHP Carlos Rodón (elbow) to start on Tuesday against the Orioles.

After it being reported that Rodón would return tonight, the Yankees have made it official. He appeared in a big league game since June 28th and his activation couldn’t have come at a better time as Max Fried was just placed back on the injured list with a bone bruise in his left elbow.

Rangers activated C Danny Jansen from the 60-day injured list.

Jansen returns to Texas’ catching situation after missing more than two months with a right forearm strain. The 31-year-old backstop will split time with fellow veteran Elias Díaz until Kyle Higashioka is back from the injured list.

Rangers designated C Austin Wynns for assignment.

Wynns went 8-for-29 with one homer during a 14-game stint with the Rangers after being brought up last month. The well-traveled 35-year-old loses his roster spot with Danny Jansen back from the injured list. He’s spent time with three different organizations this season and figures to wind up back on the open market after going unclaimed on waivers.
