Royals sent RHP Kyle Wright outright to Triple-A Omaha.

Wright passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from Kansas City’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 30-year-old righty hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2023 due to shoulder surgery. He led the majors with 21 victories during the 2022 campaign before shoulder issues derailed his career. He’s a pure lottery ticket heading into next season.

Tristan Peters (shoulder) remains out of the White Sox’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Tigers.

Peters suffered a bruised left shoulder after colliding with the outfield wall during Friday’s contest. He sat out Saturday’s game as a precautionary measure and will get an extra day on Sunday as well. It’s possible that he could be available off the bench if needed on Sunday afternoon. Braden Montgomery will start in his place in right field and will bat ninth against Tigers’ right-hander Troy Melton.

Dillon Dingler is not in the Tigers’ lineup for Sunday’s divisional matchup against the White Sox.

The Tigers rode Dingler pretty heavily for most of the season, so they’re pumping the brakes a bit now that they’re out of the postseason picture and giving him some additional rest down the stretch. That’s not ideal for fantasy purposes, but probably makes the most sense for the team and for Dingler overall. Eduardo Valencia is behind the plate and will bat fifth for the Tigers against White Sox’ right-hander Davis Martin on Sunday,

Daulton Varsho is not in the Astros’ starting lineup for Sunday’s skirmish against the Braves.

Varsho will take a seat with left-hander Martin Perez on the hill for the Braves. Brice Matthews will draw a start in his place in center field and will bat ninth for the Astros on Sunday afternoon in Houston.

Red Sox optioned RHP Wyatt Olds to Triple-A Worcester.

Olds, 27, has done a terrific job in 13 appearances for the Red Sox this season, registering a 1.20 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 20/7 K/BB ratio over 15 innings of work. It’ll be interesting to see if he rejoins the bullpen for the postseason.

Red Sox activated RHP Tyron Guerrero from the 15-day injured list.

The hard-throwing right-hander had been sidelined since the start of September due to right shoulder inflammation. The Red Sox will want to get him into at least a couple of games over the next week just to make sure that he shakes any rust off before the start of the postseason. Wyatt Olds was optioned to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Austin Riley is not in the Braves’ starting lineup for Sunday’s matchup against Hunter Brown and the Astros.

Riley has been limping to the finish line of the regular season, slashing just .203/.266/.339 with two homers, eight RBI and a 22/4 K/BB ratio over 64 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to September. Hopefully a day off to reset is what he needs to get back on track. Mauricio Dubon will cover third base in his absence and will bat fifth for the Braves on Sunday.

A.J. Ewing is absent from the Mets’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s tilt against the Phillies.

If you’re going to have to take a day off once in a while, doing so against Phillies star left-hander Cristopher Sanchez isn’t the worst idea in the world. The rookie outfielder has been on a tear at the plate recently, slashing .351/.397/.544 with three homers, 12 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 63 plate appearances over his last 15 games. Nick Morabito will start in his place in center field and bat eighth for the Mets on Sunday.

Jonathan Aranda is not in the Rays’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Red Sox.

While Aranda does stay in the lineup against most left-handers, he’ll get a breather in this one with Patrick Sandoval toeing the slab for the Red Sox. Expect him to make an appearance off the bench in a key late game spot if the right situation arises. Ryan Vilade will start in his place at first base and will bat second for the Rays on Sunday afternoon in Tampa Bay.

Willson Contreras (hand) remains out of the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rays.

Contreras winds up missing the entire weekend series against the Rays after being hit on the hand by a pitch during Thursday’s contest. He isn’t dealing with any structural damage and is still considered day-to-day, but the Red Sox obviously aren’t going to rush him back here. Their priority will be to have him ready to go for the start of the postseason. Nick Sogard will once again start in his place at first base and will bat fifth against Griffin Jax and the Rays.

Brayan Rocchio is absent from the Guardians’ starting lineup for Sunday’s skirmish against the Athletics.

There haven’t been any rumblings of Rocchio dealing with any sort of injury, so it looks like just a routine day of rest for the 25-year-old shortstop. Angel Genao will start in his place and will bat ninth against A’s right-hander Jack Perkins on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland.
