Misner heads to Kansas City after being jettisoned from Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 27-year-old outfielder hit .213/.273/.345 with five homers, 22 RBI, and eight steals over 217 plate appearances in 71 games last season. He’ll provide the Royals with additional outfield depth behind Kyle Isbel, John Rave and Jac Caglianone heading into spring training.

The Braves grabbed a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh after defensive miscues from Bohm on a sac bunt and Harper on a fly to right, but the Phillies came right back in the eighth, with Schwarber and Harper taking Dylan Lee deep after Lee went the entire regular season without ever allowing a homer to a lefty. Bohm’s homer was his third in 40 career postseason games. Including the regular season, it’s his ever extra-inning homer. Game 3 will take place Thursday. The Braves are expected to throw Grant Holmes as a starter or bulk guy, with the Phillies likely starting Aaron Nola and perhaps going to Zack Wheeler later.

Sánchez allowed one run in the first and then was charged with two in the seventh after the defense botched a sac bunt, getting no outs, and let a routine fly to right drop for a double. With some more help, Sánchez would have gotten through seven allowing one run today.

Mahle, making his first career postseason start at age 32, was on the ropes early, giving up a double and two singles to the first four batters he faced. However, he escaped with just one run in after a grounder back to the mound and a strikeout. He then allowed just three more hits over his remaining six innings. He left with the score tied 1-1, but he was put in line for the win when the Braves scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, only to watch Dylan Lee give up back-to-back homers to tie things up in the eighth.

Harper singled in a run in the first and then hit the second of back-to-back homers with Kyle Schwarber to tie the game in the eighth after his own misplay helped the Braves go ahead by two runs in the seventh. Harper’s homer was his 18th in 59 postseason games.

No real changes for the Astros, with the exception of Alvarez heading out to left field with Isaac Paredes moving to DH and Nick Allen entering at third base, as they try to stave off elimination and force a decisive Game 3 showdown. George Lombard Jr. will be the only right-handed hitter in the lineup, but there could be plenty of turnover if the Red Sox go to a left-handed reliever out of the bullpen.

This always seemed likely after the 22-year-old reaggravated a hand injury on a check swing on Sunday and then further hurt it in Game 1 on Tuesday. Nate Eaton will start in left field and bat ninth against left-hander Max Fried, but now the bigger question will be whether or not the Red Sox request permission to replace Anthony on their roster for the postseason.

In the final week of the regular season, Varsho admitted that he might need offseason surgery, and that was indeed the case. The 30-year-old hit .221/.281/.355 with 12 home runs, 12 steals, and a career-low 20.3 percent strikeout rate. He’ll be a free agent in the off-season, and it will be really interesting to see what kind of contract he can get, keeping in mind his clear defensive value.
