Orioles sent INF Luis Vázquez outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Vázquez is sticking around as organizational depth at Triple-A Norfolk after passing through waivers unclaimed earlier this week. The 26-year-old infielder batted .160 (8-for-50) in 32 games for the Orioles last season. He’ll compete for a bench role in spring training.

MLB.com’s Scott Merkin believes Luisangel Acuña could become the White Sox’s regular center fielder.

Brooks Baldwin is dealing with right elbow soreness and the White Sox seem committed to giving Acuña a trial of sorts out there while letting Chase Meidroth handle second base. While Acuña is hardly a must-roster in AL-only leagues, his speed could be compelling in 5x5 formats. He stole 16 bases in just 193 plate appearances for the Mets last year.

Yankees reassigned RHP Ben Hess and RHP Brendan Beck to minor league camp.

Hess carried a 1.80 ERA in five innings of Spring Training ball, striking out six. He’ll likely return to Double-A, where he posted a 0.95 WHIP and 2.70 ERA in seven starts in 2025, to start the 2026 campaign.

Tyler Mattison

Tigers reassigned RHP Tyler Mattison, RHP Cole Waites, and LHP Bryan Sammons to minor league camp.

All three are expected to begin the year with Triple-A Toledo. Mattison could be a high-leverage reliever for the Tigers at some point this season, but it won’t be on Opening Day.

Jacob Lopez

MLB.com’s Martin Gallegos believes Jacob Lopez has the “inside track” for the final A’s rotation spot.

He also labels Luis Morales a “rotation lock,” with J.T. Ginn and Jack Perkins as longshot contenders for the fifth starter role. Lopez had a 4.08 ERA and a 113/37 K/BB ratio across 92 2/3 innings in 2025 and could be a streamable pitcher in the right matchups in 2026.

Clay Holmes

NYM Starting Pitcher #35
Clay Holmes will be replaced on Team USA’s World Baseball Classic roster so he can stay built up for the regular season.

Team USA could not guarantee Holmes enough innings to stay ready for the regular season, so back to Mets camp he goes. Also exiting the Team USA roster for the quarterfinal round are Michael Wacha, Ryan Yarbrough, and Tarik Skubal. Replacements for those three are Will Vest, Tyler Rogers, and Tim Hill. The team has not yet announced a replacement for Holmes, but Joe Ryan is expected to be in the mix.

Aidan Miller

PHI Shortstop #87
Phillies reassigned IF Aidan Miller, C Kehden Hettiger, C Mark Kolozsvary, C Caleb Ricketts, RHP Andrew Bechtold, and RHP Michael Mercado to minor league camp.

Miller, the major prospect on this list, did not appear in a Spring Training game while dealing with soreness. He’ll likely begin the year at Triple-A Lehigh Valley after a .259/.382/.427 line in 108 games at Double-A Reading in 2025. Miller remains an interesting fantasy prospect, but doesn’t appear to have an easy path to playing time this season in Philadelphia’s infield.

José Berríos

TOR Starting Pitcher #17

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said José Berríos is dealing elbow inflammation but will continue throwing.

Seems like this is the reason that Berríos didn’t join Puerto Rico’s WBC roster for the quarterfinals. It’s hard to read too much into inflammation without missed time throwing — though Schneider did say Berríos won’t start today for the Jays — but it’s less than ideal for this to pop up a scant few weeks from the start of the season.

Sung-Mun Song

SD 3rd Baseman #24

Padres IF Sung-Mun Song (oblique) aggravated an earlier strain and has not swung a bat since Sunday.

It’s possible he could begin the season on the injured list or in the minor leagues if he’s set back far enough, perhaps opening a spot on the Padres bench for Ty France or Jose Miranda. Song initially suffered the oblique injury in January during a batting practice session. He looks unlikely to have short-term fantasy value at the start of the season based on this update.

Zack Wheeler

PHI Starting Pitcher #45

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said a live BP is “getting close” for Zach Wheeler (shoulder) in his ramp-up.

MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki believes an April return is in play for Wheeler, and adds that it wouldn’t be surprising if he pitched in a game before the end of camp. All reports out of Spring Training have been optimistic for Wheeler so far, making him a reasonable gamble at ADP.

Jorge Polanco

NYM 2nd Baseman #11

MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports “the plan” is for Jorge Polanco to play first base “more often than not.”

For those of you hoping Polanco would slide right into first base eligibility, it’s good news. Polanco seems like a good bet to hit in the middle of the Mets order and, if he hits, will have plenty of RBI chances behind Francisco Lindor, Bo Bichette, and Juan Soto.
