White Sox claimed LHP Ryan Rolison off waivers from the Braves.

Rolison was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Thursday, and the claim happens just a day later. The former first-round pick will be at risk of hitting the waiver wire again if/when Chicago adds another player to the 40-man roster.

Phillies activated C Rafael Marchán from the 10-day injured list.

He missed five weeks with patella tendinitis. The Phillies will carry three catchers for now, but Marchán should overtake Garrett Stubbs as J.T. Realmuto’s primary backup

Phillies recalled RHP Grant Holman from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Holmes, 26, will be making his Phillies and 2026 debut four months after being claimed off waivers from the Tigers. He has a career 4.66 ERA in 38 2/3 innings with the A’s in 2024 and ’25.

Red Sox placed RHP Tyron Guerrero on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

Guerrero allowed three runs in one-third of an inning last night while pitching for the third time in four days. He’s been a key piece of Boston’s pen, so hopefully, a little break here will get him right for the final 7-10 days and the postseason.

Red Sox recalled RHP Wyatt Olds from Triple-A Worcester.

In his first major league stint, Olds allowed three unearned runs over six innings for Boston before being sent down Saturday. He’s back now as a result of Tyron Guerrero going on the IL.

Eugenio Suárez is out of Tuesday’s lineup against the Padres because he’s taking his U.S. naturalization test.

Good luck to Geno. He’s expected to miss another game Wednesday before rejoining the Reds. It’s unclear if there will be a roster move here, but his absence might be part of the reason why the Reds promoted Juan Brito as their September callup. Brito is starting at second base tonight, with Matt McLain at shortstop and Elly De La Cruz DHing for a second game in a row.

Mariners selected the contract of OF Lazaro Montes from Triple-A Tacoma.

Montes should play a lot of right field against righties for the Mariners after hitting .249/.369/.558 with 38 homers between Double- and Triple-A. He’ll strike out a bunch, and he’s probably not going to be a quality mixed-league guy right away. Still, he should be an upgrade from this current version of Taylor Ward if the Mariners let that happen.

Mariners signed LHP Hoby Milner to a minor league contract; selected his contract from Triple-A Tacoma.

Why like this? The Mariners only just now announced the Milner signing, but if they say it actually happened last night, that makes him postseason eligible, which he wouldn’t be if he only joined the organization today. Milner had a 3.53 ERA in 38 appearances for the Cubs before going on the IL with appendicitis on June 27. He returned to the mound on July 29, but the Cubs never activated him from his rehab assignment before letting him go on Friday.

Mariners designated RHP Nolan Kingham for assignment.

Kingham, 30, was claimed off waivers from the Rangers three weeks ago and stashed in Triple-A. His major league experience consists of one inning with one run allowed for Texas earlier this season.

Mariners designated 1B/OF Connor Joe for assignment.

Joe got 45 plate appearances for the Mariners in the first half of the season, hitting .179 with one homer. He’s batted .264/.365/.420 in 73 games for Triple-A Tacoma. He’ll likely clear waivers and then can decide whether or not to become a free agent.

The Angels are being sold to Los Angeles Rams and Denver Nuggets owner Stan Korenke, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Wow. The reign of Arte Moreno is over, or at least will be in the first quarter of 2027. There was no word that the Angels were again up for sale. Moreno put the team on the market in Aug. 2022, but with no suitable offers, he announced five months later than he’d keep the club. The sale seems like great news for Angels fans. Kroenke hasn’t been quite as generous with the Nuggets’ finances as some would like, but his teams, which also include the Colorado Avalanche, certainly tend to have more success than the Angels have enjoyed.
