MIL Starting Pitcher #46

Quinn Priester (thoracic outlet syndrome) will head to Phoenix to begin facing hitters this week.

Priester was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome towards the end of spring training after the Brewers sought multiple opinions to figure out why his wrist wasn’t feeling better after a long off-season. While Priester has avoided surgery for now, his return to the Brewers rotation should still be considered questionable until he is able to throw at full strength without any symptoms.

Orion Kerkering

PHI Relief Pitcher #50

Orion Kerkering (hamstring) is scheduled to make back-to-back rehab appearances with Triple-A Lehigh Valley,

The second of those back-to-back appearances is set to come on Wednesday. If his hamstring responds well to the back to back outings, then it’s not out of the question that he returns to the Phillies’ bullpen this weekend.

Zack Wheeler

PHI Starting Pitcher #45

Zack Wheeler (thoracic outlet surgery) will start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

It will be Wheeler‘s second rehab start, and he is expected to throw between 50 and 55 pitches. He will then make one more rehab start in Triple-A next week before potentially returning to the Phillies rotation. Obviously, all this depends on how he feels and looks in his next two starts.

All of Evan Carter, Joc Pederson, and Josh Smith are on the bench against the Orioles on Wednesday.

With left-hander Trevor Rogers on the mound, the Rangers will sit a few of their left-handed hitters. Smith has made one start this season against a lefty, but has sat out the last two. Andrew McCutchen will start in right field and bat fifth, Ezequiel Duran will start at second base and hit eighth, and Sam Haggerty will start in left field and bat ninth.

Bryce Harper will start at first base and bat second for the Phillies on Wednesday against the Nationals.

Harper has gone 2-for-20 to start the season with four strikeouts and two walks. Perhaps the Phillies feel that hitting in front of Kyle Schwarber will provide more protection for Harper and allow him to see better pitches to hit.

Rockies activated OF Tyler Freeman (back) from the 10-day injured list.

It was expected that Freeman would start the season as a short-side platoon with either Jordan Beck or Mickey Moniak. Now, Moniak (finger) is also on the injured list, so there is a chance that Freeman could push Beck for playing time in the outfield or perhaps hit well enough to push Edouard Julien out of the DH spot.

Lucas Sims

CWS Relief Pitcher #39

White Sox selected the contract of RHP Lucas Sims from Triple-A Charlotte.

Sims has thrown one scoreless inning in Triple-A this season, but the White Sox will bring the veteran up to have a spot in their bullpen. He struggled last season in Washington and has not been a high-impact reliever for a few years now.
