Paul Skenes said there’s been no additions to his arsenal as he enters camp.
There was a report last month that Skenes was working on something called a “sleeper,” that was supposed to be a slower version of his sweeper, but he debunked that today. He also said he’s no longer experimenting with the cutter he tried last spring. He needs to give MLB hitters some sort of chance, after all.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that Jurickson Profar underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia in November.
The procedure required six weeks of recovery time. The 32-year-old outfielder noted that he began feeling discomfort in September and it continued to linger as he started his offseason workout routine. He’s reportedly fully recovered now and enters spring training without any restrictions. Profar hit .245/.353/.434 with 14 homers, 43 RBI and nine stolen bases in 318 at-bats with the Braves during the 2025 season while missing 80 games due to a PED suspension.
Carroll, Lindor, Holliday all injure hamate bones
Eric Samulski dives into the rash of hamate bone injuries affecting MLB stars, sharing the latest news regarding Corbin Carroll, Jackson Holliday and Francisco Lindor, who all will miss time with hamate bone injuries.
  • TEX Left Fielder #21
Rangers signed 1B/OF Mark Canha to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 37-year-old struggled mightily during his time with the Royals in 2025, slashing a meager .212/.272/.265 with just one homer, six RBI and a 24/7 K/BB ratio across 125 plate appearances and was ultimately released in August. He’ll see if he has anything left in the tank as he fights for a bench spot on the Rangers’ Opening Day roster.
  • AZ Starting Pitcher #23
Diamondbacks re-signed RHP Zac Gallen to a one-year, $22.025 million contract.
The 30-year-old hurler will wind up getting the same guarantee that he turned down when declining the qualifying offer that the Diamondbacks made to him in November, though $14 million of that will be deferred as Gallen will receive $2.8 million per year starting in 2031. His return helps to solidify the Diamondbacks’ rotation.
  • KC 1st Baseman #18
Astros signed INF/OF Cavan Biggio to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The versatile 30-year-old will head into Cactus League play looking to secure a bench spot on the Astros’ Opening Day roster. Biggio hit just .174/.296/.246 with one homer, four RBI and a 21/11 K/BB ratio across 83 plate appearances with the Royals during the 2025 campaign.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #58
Nationals signed LHP Cionel Pérez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman adds that Pérez will earn $1.9 million with $700,000 in additional incentives if he makes Washington’s roster. The 29-year-old southpaw struggled this past season, spending most of it at the Triple-A level but was a mainstay in Baltimore’s relief mix during each of the previous three seasons dating back to 2022. He represents an interesting low-risk addition for the rebuilding Nationals as a middle relief option.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #37
Orioles acquired RHP Jackson Kowar from the Twins for cash considerations.
Kowar finds himself on the move for the third time since late January. The 29-year-old righty should be able to secure a spot in Baltimore’s bullpen as a low-leverage option after making 15 relief appearances for the Mariners this past season. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #60
Orioles placed RHP Colin Selby on the 60-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
Selby will open the season with an extended stint on the injured list after suffering a shoulder injury during his offseason throwing program. The 28-year-old righty made 11 appearances for the Orioles this past season.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #48
The Padres and Germán Márquez are in agreement on a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Alden González.
Márquez augments San Diego’s rotation depth as a reliable back-end stabilizer and innings-eater after spending the first decade of his career with the division-rival Rockies. The 30-year-old workhorse struggled to an unsightly 6.70 ERA — 5.77 xERA — 1.71 WHIP and 83/48 K/BB ratio across 126 1/3 innings during his return from Tommy John surgery last season. Getting out of Coors Field’s high-octane offensive environment is undoubtedly a positive development, but his lackluster strikeout rate keeps him off fantasy managers’ radar screens until further notice.
  • NYY Catcher #22
Ben Rice (neck) is aiming to resume swinging soon.
Rice was shut down from hitting after sleeping on his neck wrong earlier this week. It sounds like a relatively minor physical issue but fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status. The soon-to-be 27-year-old slugger has emerged as one of the more polarizing hitters in the fantasy landscape as he’s gone off the board 54th overall, on average, in NFBC drafts since February 1.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #50
Kris Bubic (shoulder) faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.
Bubic is working his way back from last year’s rotator cuff strain that shortened his breakout campaign to just 20 starts, finishing with a pristine 2.55 ERA — 3.17 xERA — 1.18 WHIP and 116/39 K/BB ratio over 116 1/3 innings. The 28-year-old southpaw carries some durability question marks but will be a top-50 range starting pitcher in fantasy drafts this spring.
