DL Hall faced the Brewers while pitching for Great Britain on Tuesday and allowed one unearned run over three innings.
Hall’s velocity was down some, but he allowed just one hit and hard-hit ball to the 12 teammates he faced today. He could be a candidate to open up in Milwaukee’s rotation this year, depending on just how many starters the Brewers have unavailable. It still seems likely that he’ll spend the bulk of the season in the pen.

Orioles reassigned RHP Enoli Paredes to minor league camp
Paredes had a solid 2024 season but then spent all of 2025 in Triple-A with the Braves. He allowed three runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings for Baltimore this spring and could be ticketed for the minors again. The Orioles also reassigned INF/OF Willy Vasquez to minor league camp.
Team USA players to watch ahead of new MLB season
Eric Samulski breaks down Team USA's win over the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic semifinals, including which American players can translate their tournament success to the new MLB season.
  • MIN Center Fielder #16
Austin Martin came out of Monday’s game against the Pirates due to a concussion.
His Opening Day would seem to be in jeopardy. Martin was expected to make the Twins as a fourth outfielder starting against most or all left-handers. Eric Wagaman would be the obvious candidate to replace him as a starter against lefties, but he’s not nearly the outfield defender that Martin is.
  • CIN 2nd Baseman #9
Reds manager Terry Francona confirmed that he intends to bat Matt McLain second this year.
It’d become obvious based on his spring lineups, but confirmation is always welcome. McLain opened last year batting second, but he spent much of the second half hitting ninth on his way to a .220/.300/.343 campaign. The 26-year-old has been one of the league’s hottest hitters this spring, coming in at .553/.605/1.105 with six homers in 43 plate appearances.

Chase Burns threw a bullpen session without incident Sunday after experiencing range-of-motion issues in his start Friday against the Giants.
The Reds pulled Burns as a precaution after two seemingly uneventful innings Friday, but still allowed him to throw Sunday, suggesting that they don’t really think anything significant is going on here. Perhaps they’ll still slowplay things here — The Athletic’s C. Trent Rosencrans has taken Burns off his projected Opening Day roster — but he’s looked strong in his outings, and if he’s going to be pitching anyway, there’d be little reason to have him do so in the minors.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #11
Marcelo Mayer is playing in a minor league game today after sitting out Sunday with left knee soreness.
Mayer, still the favorite to start for Boston at second base, is 6-for-22 with a homer this spring.

Padres manager Craig Stammen said that Joe Musgrove (elbow) will start the season the IL.
This seemed all but certain after Stammen said that Musgrove was “in a bit of a holding pattern” last week. At this point, Musgrove has not thrown in over a week after he didn’t recover well following a March 4th outing against Team Great Britain. It’s impossible to predict when Musgrove will return until he gets back on the mound again. With him out, there’s a chance that Walker Buehler could earn the final spot in the Padres’ rotation.
  • AZ 2nd Baseman #17
Diamondbacks signed INF Luis Urías to a minor league contract.
Urías started the 2025 season with the Athletics and slashed 230/.315/.338 with eight homers, 25 RBI, two stolen bases, and a 45/31 K/BB ratio across 330 plate appearances. He was designated for assignment and then latched on with the Brewers, where he played 13 minor league games. He can play most positions on the infield and will be solid organizational depth.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #7
Jackson Holliday (wrist) said he “feels good” in his recovery from hamate bone surgery and expects to take live at-bats this week.
Holliday had surgery in February and had aimed for a mid-April return at the time. He appears on track for that right now. Holliday is unsure if he’s going to get into a spring training game with the Orioles before camp breaks at the end of this weekend. However, he is “expecting to play in Triple-A Norfolk’s opening game,” and believes he would be back with the Orioles a few weeks after that. There should be some residual power lag in the months after that, given the nature of his surgery, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect a lot of power growth for the 22-year-old this season.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #54
Marlins optioned RHP Garrett Acton to Triple-A Jacksonville
Acton made a strong case for a job in the Marlins’ bullpen, throwing 5 1/3 scoreless innings this spring while striking out six and walking four. It seems like the Marlins will have him work on that command in the minors to start the season.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #31
Marlins optioned RHP Bradley Blalock to Triple-A Jacksonville
Blalock was acquired from the Rockies in January and was trying to win a rotation spot. He allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in 4 2/3 innings this spring while striking out three and walking two. The 25-year-old will begin the year in Jacksonville’s rotation.
