Jo Adell went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI on Wednesday, powering the Angels to an 8-4 win over the White Sox in Cactus League action.
Adell clobbered a tape-measure blast in the fourth innings, which traveled a staggering 468 feet, per Statcast. He also added a run-scoring single in the sixth inning to close out a multi-hit performance. The 26-year-old former top prospect finally put it all together at the highest-level last year, authoring a stellar 37-homer breakout campaign that saw him finish as a top-25 fantasy outfielder. He’ll come off the board right around that range as one of the stronger OF3 options in drafts this spring.

Jack Flaherty allowed five runs on five hits in five innings against the Phillies on Monday.
He struck out three and walked one on the day while posting a 22 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. As per usual, most of his success was thanks to his slider, which had a 56 percent whiff rate. He threw enough strikes, but his fastball got hit hard, and the ceiling for Flaherty seems low for fantasy outside of deeper formats.

Eric Samulski breaks down Team USA's win over the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic semifinals, including which American players can translate their tournament success to the new MLB season.
  • ATL Catcher #30
Drake Baldwin had a three-run homer, an RBI triple and a walk Monday in the Braves’ 11-2 rout of the Rays.
Baldwin is 10-for-30 with two doubles, two triples and two homers this spring, and it still seems like he really should be doing better. All three of his at-bats today resulted in 100+-mph exit velocities, and he’s an absurd 20-for-23 producing hard-hit balls on contact this spring. There’s a good chance he’s on his way to bettering the numbers that earned him NL Rookie of the Year last season.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #51
Chris Sale limited the Rays to one run in six innings for a victory Monday.
Sale’s velocity was down a bit today — he averaged 93.7 mph with his fastball, compared to 94.9 mph in his first three spring starts — but he was in control from the start today. He’ll likely make one shorter start this weekend before facing the Royals in Atlanta’s opener.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #26
Raisel Iglesias gave up a run on three hits in two-thirds of an inning against the Rays on Monday.
None of the three hits Iglesias gave up had EVs over 90 mph. The first was a clean liner from Chandler Simpson, who went on to steal second base. Simpson then tried to steal again on what ended up being a weak grounder to third from Raynel Delgado, and because the third baseman was out of position going to cover third, it made it into left for a single. The third hit was a fly to center lost in the sun. Iglesias struck out the other two batters he faced, but the Braves lifted their closer to keep his pitch count under control.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #28
Nick Martinez was tagged for seven runs and 10 hits in four innings by the Braves on Monday.
Martinez gave up some hard contact today, including a homer to Eli White, but it was the softer stuff that did him in; the Braves had three hits on nine hard-hit balls and went 7-for-11 on non-hard-hit balls. Atlanta’s four-run second inning started with Mike Yastrzemski perfectly placing a popup down the left field line for a double in between the left fielder and third baseman. The poor showing takes Martinez’s spring ERA to 9.90, but he’s throwing fine and he should have an easier time once the Rays get back into the Trop.
  • TB Catcher #40
Nick Fortes hit his second spring homer Monday off the Braves’ Chris Sale.
Fortes is hitting .304/.360/.565 this spring, compared to .087/.222/.261 for Hunter Feduccia. It bodes well for Fortes being the Rays’ primary catcher to begin the year, even though Feduccia’s left-handedness would set up a natural platoon. Feduccia just hasn’t hit at all since being acquired from the Dodgers at the deadline last year.
  • CHC Right Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki will undergo an MRI after suffering a right knee injury during the World Baseball Classic.
Suzuki will undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury, and whether he’s dealing with any structural damage, after being evaluated by Cubs team doctors on Monday. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point later this week. The 31-year-old right fielder suffered the injury during Japan’s loss to Venezuela over the weekend. He put together the strongest all-around season of his big-league career last year, hitting .245/.326/.478 with 32 home runs, 103 RBI and five steals in 151 games.
  • MIN 2nd Baseman #15
Luke Keaschall went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run against the Pirates on Monday.
The home run was a 380-foot shot that left the bat at 99.4 mph. He also added a 99 mph double earlier in the day. Keaschall doesn’t have a track record of much power in the minors and is probably capped at around 15 home runs at the big league level. However, he is an elite contact hitter with good speed who should provide you with a solid batting average, albeit in a fairly mediocre lineup for counting stats. All of that does make him a solid pick since he has recently fallen outside of the top 100 picks in ADP.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #18
Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start on Opening Day against the Diamondbacks.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made the official announcement after Yamamoto returned from the World Baseball Classic. No surprise here after he helped lead Los Angeles to their second consecutive World Series title with multiple herculean performances during last year’s postseason, finishing with a sublime 1.45 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 33/6 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 postseason innings.. The 27-year-old fantasy ace is a top-five starter in drafts this spring after compiling a sparkling 2.49 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 201/59 K/BB ratio across 173 2/3 innings in 30 regular-season starts.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ryan allowed one run on five hits in four innings against the Pirates on Monday, striking out six and walking one.
Ryan also posted a 24 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW while sitting just under 93 mph with his four-seamer. His velocity fell a bit as the game went on, but the shape on the pitch looked similar to what we’ve seen in the past. The most important part was that Ryan threw 68 pitches and got ahead in the count often, which is a positive sign after his earlier setback with a back injury.
