Lane Thomas went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a stolen base on Sunday as the Royals topped the White Sox 10-4 in Cactus League play.
Thomas has been a mostly forgotten outfielder in fantasy drafts this spring, going outside the top 400 in NFBC formats since the start of March. The 30-year-old speedster still offers 25-steal potential but it’ll be hard for him to deliver much else in a platoon role with the Royals, especially since he’ll be batting towards the bottom of the lineup when he does get a chance.

Athletics optioned RHP Joey Estes to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Estes made his 2026 debut against the Rockies on Saturday, giving up four runs over 4 1/3 innings of work. With Aaron Civale set to return from the injured list this week though, he became expendable. Brady Basso was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move to add a fresh arm to the Athletics’ bullpen.
Mack mashes second HR for Marlins in 2nd inning
Marlins catcher Joe Mack smacks a deep shot off Paul Skenes to help Miami take a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
  • AZ Catcher #66
Diamondbacks sent C Aramis Garcia outright to Triple-A Reno.
The Diamondbacks had been carrying Garcia as a luxury third catcher until he was designated for assignment on Friday. He’ll continue to serve as extra catching depth at Triple-A Reno.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Casey Mize will have his next start pushed back to Wednesday after Sunday’s game against the Guardians was rained out.
Mize had been slated to be activated from the injured list and return on Sunday, but the Tigers will instead stay on schedule with Troy Melton and Framber Valdez for the first two games against the Astros in Houston, with Mize working the finale on Sunday.
  • CHC Right Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki (knee) was scratched from the Cubs’ starting lineup on Sunday.
The Cubs had planned on having Suzuki return to the lineup on Sunday after exiting on Saturday due to discomfort in his right knee. They opted to err on the side of caution though and decided to give him an extra day off. He’s still considered day-to-day.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #32
Sunday’s scheduled contest between the Tigers and Guardians was postponed due on inclement weather.
The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Friday, September 3. Expect Sunday’s scheduled starters — Casey Mize and Gavin Williams — to work for their respective clubs on Monday and Tuesday.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #52
Padres designated RHP Ty Adcock for assignment.
The 29-year-old hurler gets bumped from the Padres’ 40-man roster to make room for Blake Hunt on Sunday. Adcock has made 11 appearances across three minor league levels this season, posting a 7.15 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 15/6 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings. There’s a decent chance that he slips through waivers unclaimed and continues to function as extra bullpen depth for the Padres.
  • SD Catcher #12
Padres selected the contract of C Blake Hunt from Triple-A El Paso.
The 27-year-old backstop earns his first promotion to the big leagues after toiling in the minors for nine seasons. He has appeared in 15 games at the minor league level this season, slashing .289/.431/.533 with three homers, eight RBI and a 12/9 K/BB ratio over 58 plate appearances. He’ll add depth behind the plate with Freddy Fermin (concussion) on the injured list.
  • SD Catcher #54
Padres placed C Freddy Fermin on the 7-day concussion injured list.
Fermin was hit in the head by an errant warm-up toss from Yuki Matsui during Saturday’s game. He’ll need to pass through the concussion protocol before he’s eligible to return. Blake Hunt was promoted from Triple-A El Paso to take his place on the Padres’ active roster.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #27
Jose Altuve is not in the Astros’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Royals.
Astros’ skipper Joe Espada confirmed there’s nothing physically wrong with Altuve, he just needed a breather. Brice Matthews will start in his place at second base and will bat seventh against Stephen Kolek and the Royals on Sunday afternoon in Kansas City.
  • COL Shortstop #21
Rockies optioned INF Chad Stevens to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Rockies needed to make a move to accommodate the return of Tyler Freeman (concussion) on Sunday and unfortunately for Stevens he wound up as the odd man out this time around. The 27-year-old infielder is a staggering 1-for-28 (.036) with a 13/5 K/BB ratio in 34 plate appearances for the Rockies this season.
