Seiya Suzuki will undergo an MRI after suffering a right knee injury during the World Baseball Classic.
Suzuki will undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury, and whether he’s dealing with any structural damage, after being evaluated by Cubs team doctors on Monday. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point later this week. The 31-year-old right fielder suffered the injury during Japan’s loss to Venezuela over the weekend. He put together the strongest all-around season of his big-league career last year, hitting .245/.326/.478 with 32 home runs, 103 RBI and five steals in 151 games.
