Giants placed LHP Sam Hentges on the 15-day injured list following right knee and left shoulder surgery.
The Giants signed Hentges, who missed all of last season with the Guardians, in December thinking he’d be a participant in spring training but realizing there was a good chance he’d open up on the IL. He wasn’t able to get into any games, so it seems clear he’s at least a month away from helping out of the pen.

Gunnar Henderson finished 0-for-5 with a strikeout Tuesday against the Mariners.
A lineout, a strikeout, a groundout, a popout and a forceout; Henderson accomplished the cycle of lousy at-bats tonight. He’s hit .225/.282/.351 in 151 at-bats since the beginning of May. His bat speed is down, his EV numbers are down and his strikeout rate is up in is fourth full season as a big leaguer. He once seemed poised to maybe receive the biggest contract of all-time as a 27-year-old free agent. Perhaps that still could happen, but 2 1/2 months into his age-25 season, he’s basically an average regular.
Soderstrom 'turning the corner' amid hot streak
Tyler Soderstrom's two-HR day was just the latest sign that the Athletics' slugger is in the middle of a hot streak. Eric Samulski says fantasy managers should expect the ball to "fly off his bat" as summer rolls on.
  • WSH Right Fielder #29
James Wood went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, one RBI, and a steal in the Nationals’ 6-3 win over the Giants on Tuesday.
Wood singled to lead off the game, then scored on a two-run homer by Luis García Jr. He then singled to drive in a run in the fifth before swiping second for his 12th steal of the season. He collected his third hit in the seventh and scored again on a bases-loaded walk. The 23-year-old outfielder is having an excellent season across the board, hitting .271/.407/.527 with 17 homers, 60 runs scored, and 41 RBI across 317 plate appearances.
  • WSH 1st Baseman #2
Luis García Jr. went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Giants on Tuesday.
García put the Nationals on the board right away, taking Adrian Houser deep for a two-run blast in the first inning. He was later pinch-hit for against a left-hander in the seventh inning. The 26-year-old has homered four times in his last nine games. He’s up to eight on the season while hitting .262/.288/.461 with 25 runs scored and 40 RBI across 215 plate appearances.
  • SF Designated Hitter #8
Bryce Eldridge went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two walks against the Nationals on Tuesday.
Eldridge continues to raise the question as to why the Giants took so long to make him an everyday regular. He reached three times on a hit and two walks on Tuesday before taking Orlando Ribalta deep for a solo homer in the ninth. The home run was his third of the season while hitting an excellent .300/.385/.500 with 15 runs scored and eight RBI across 104 plate appearances. The most encouraging development for the 21-year-old slugger is the 22.1 percent strikeout rate.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #54
Andrew Alvarez allowed two runs with four strikeouts over 4 innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Tuesday.
Alvarez held the Giants scoreless through four innings, but was working around plenty of traffic as he stranded eight baserunners through the four frames. He allowed the first two batters to reach in the fifth. That would be it for Alvarez, departing at 90 pitches. Both inherited runners would come in to score. He struck out four. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 3.70 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 26/11 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings into a home start against the Royals on Monday.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #12
Adrian Houser allowed three runs with six strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss against the Nationals on Tuesday.
Houser surrendered a two-run homer to Luis García Jr. in the first inning. He settled in for three scoreless frames, then gave up a triple with one out in the fifth. That would be it for Houser at 77 pitches. The inherited runner would come in to score. He struck out six. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 5.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and a 46/24 K/BB ratio across 65 innings into a start against the Braves in Atlanta next Tuesday.
  • ATH Center Fielder
Henry Bolte went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in the A’s 7-5 win over the Brewers on Tuesday.
Twenty-two games into his career, Bolte had still been searching for his first major league home run after crushing 12 over 22 games in Triple-A. He finally got on the board with a two-run blast off Robert Gasser in the second inning, a 106.9 mph shot at 446 feet. The 22-year-old outfielder has otherwise performed well, hitting .295/.371/.385 with seven runs scored, seven RBI, and four steals across 89 plate appearances.
  • MIL Left Fielder #11
Jackson Chourio went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer against the Athletics on Tuesday.
Chourio wasted no time keeping up the power barrage in Las Vegas, taking J.T. Ginn deep for a two-run homer in the first inning. That would be his only hit in the game. The home run was his fifth of the season while slashing .301/.356/.496 with five homers, 23 runs scored, 19 RBI, and five steals across 146 plate appearances.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #63
Mason Barnett tossed two innings with four strikeouts to record a save against the Brewers on Tuesday.
Barnett was summoned in the eighth inning with a two-run lead against the Brewers. He completed two clean innings, shutting the door on Milwaukee with four strikeouts to convert his first save. Barnett had previously made appearances of four and two scoreless frames, so he may stick to a multi-inning role. But he now has a solid 11/4 K/BB ratio across 7 1/3 scoreless innings of work.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #35
J.T. Ginn allowed five runs and struck out five batters over 5 2/3 innings in a win against the Brewers on Tuesday.
Ginn served up a two-run homer to Jackson Chourio in the first inning. A double and a base hit would bring a third run in to score in the fourth. The Brewers would get two more runs across on two walks and two hits in the sixth before Ginn departed with two outs at 97 pitches. He struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander will take a solid 3.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 65/30 K/BB ratio across 71 1/3 innings into a start against the Rockies at Las Vegas Stadium on Sunday.
