José Berríos (elbow) allowed seven earned runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Berríos also struck out just one batter and walked four on the day. His sinker sat just 90 mph, but he was also able to throw 70 pitches, so the Blue Jays could feel comfortable bringing him back into the rotaiton this week. He’s not a recommended option in fantasy leagues given his injury and his poor performance during his rehab assignment.

Jackson Merrill

Jackson Merrill went 3-for-5 with a homer, a steal, and two RBI as the Padres defeated the Cardinals 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Merrill’s homer was a two-run shot in the ninth that gave San Diego a couple of insurance runs, his eighth of the year. He’s up to 12-for-13 in stolen-base attempts while running at a more aggressive clip than either of his first two seasons. Merrill’s performance at the plate has been in a multi-year decline since he exploded onto the scene as a 21-year-old rookie in 2024. However, he’s still just 23 years old, making him a strong buy-low candidate in keeper formats.

Griffin Canning worked behind an opener on Wednesday in St. Louis, earning the win with 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball.

Canning struck out two while walking three and allowing four hits on the afternoon. His ERA now sits at 6.64, and his role in the San Diego rotation is up in the air with Germán Márquez possibly back from the IL next time through. Canning’s start would come at home against the Braves if he winds up making it.

Kyle Leahy

STL Starting Pitcher #62

Kyle Leahy earned a quality start while taking the loss on Wednesday against the Padres, yielding three runs on seven hits over six innings.

Leahy struck out seven and walked one, taking advantage of a strong matchup as the Padres entered the day with the worst run-scoring lineup in MLB. He has now made 14 starts after primarily pitching out of the bullpen in his big-league career before 2026. His next outing is scheduled to come at home against the Diamondbacks, where he’ll be a volume-based streamer in deeper formats.

Fernando Tatis Jr.

SD Right Fielder #23

Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, and a stolen base as the Padres defeated the Cardinals 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Tatis remains stuck on two homers this year, but he’s having his best offensive month so far in June. Additionally, his 18 steals put him on pace for a new career high as he’s running more than ever in 2026. The 40-steal upside with second base eligibility is a decent floor even if the power never fully arrives this summer.

Jimmy Herget

COL Relief Pitcher #44

Rockies activated RHP Jimmy Herget from the 15-day injured list.

Herget returns to Colorado’s high-leverage mix ahead of Wednesday’s showdown against the Cubs at Wrigley Field following a nearly five-week absence due to a shoulder impingement. The 32-year-old has notched one save to go along with a 5.06 ERA and 17/4 K/BB ratio across 16 innings this season.

Rockies optioned RHP Seth Halvorsen to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Halvorsen heads back to the minors with Jimmy Herget coming off the injured list prior to Wednesday’s showdown against Chicago at Wrigley Field. The 26-year-old former high-leverage arm has posted an encouraging 3.31 ERA despite a worrisome 16/14 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings for the Rockies this season.

Josh Naylor

Josh Naylor (wrist) is out of the lineup for the second straight game on Wednesday against the Orioles.

Naylor receives some extra time off to rest and recover as he battles a lingering wrist issue. The 28-year-old slugger also fouled a ball off his shin over the weekend, which didn’t help matters. It’ll be Miles Mastrobuoni taking over at first base in his absence. All indications have been that Naylor will be ready to return to Seattle’s lineup at some point this week.

Jeremy Peña

HOU Shortstop #3

Jeremy Peña went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the Astros defeated the Tigers 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Peña poked a hanging slider into the Crawford boxes for a line-drive homer off Casey Mize that broke a scoreless tie in the third, his fourth of 2026. The 28-year-old shortstop has dealt with finger and hamstring injuries this season, but he has been a strong fantasy producer since returning for good on May 18. He has primarily hit leadoff since then, which is a fantastic run-scoring role ahead of premier slugger Yordan Alvarez.

Peter Lambert

HOU Starting Pitcher #20

Peter Lambert earned the win on Wednesday against Detroit, tossing seven innings of one-run ball while striking out five and allowing no free passes.

Lambert only gave up two hits on the afternoon, lowering his ERA to 3.23. The righty has been sensational for the Astros as he’s one of two pitchers to make more than three starts for them with an ERA under 5.75. The other is Spencer Arrighetti. Lambert’s ERA estimators suggest he has pitched a bit over his head so far, but he’ll remain in strong fantasy consideration next time out in Toronto.
