Cubs claimed RHP Eduarniel Núñez off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles

Núñez had a 15.75 ERA in four innings at Triple-A this season and posted a 7.11 ERA in 10 appearances over 12 2/3 innings for the Athletics and Padres last season, while walking 11. The Cubs will be the next team to try to fix his command.

Dunn was acquired from the White Sox on May 20th. He went 1-for-11 in nine games for the Rays, mostly serving as a defensive replacement. He’ll provide organizational depth in the minor leagues.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports the Cubs will activate INF/OF Matt Shaw (back) from the injured list on Tuesday.

Shaw has been out with back tightness since May 22nd and formally began his rehab assignment at Triple-A on June 3rd. He will likely return to his super utility role, which makes it hard to roster him in fantasy leagues.

Kris Bubic

KC Starting Pitcher #50

Kris Bubic (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Bubic experienced elbow soreness on May 18th and landed on the injured list. Since he hasn’t missed an extended period of time, he may need to make one or two rehab appearances before rejoining the Royals’ rotation. The 28-year-old has a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 51/26 K/BB ratio in 50 1/3 innings this season.

Angels released RHP Taijuan Walker.

Walker signed a minor league deal with the Angels on May 23rd, but had an out in that deal, so he exercised that and was released. The 33-year-old will look to latch on with another team, likely on another minor league deal.

Orioles recalled RHP Trey Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk

Gibson allowed five runs on 13 hits in 12 1/3 innings in his first three appearances with the Orioles this season. That came with a 5/7 K/BB ratio, which makes us a little hesitant to use him in most fantasy leagues right now.

Chris Bassitt

BAL Starting Pitcher #40

Orioles placed RHP Chris Bassitt on the 15-day Injured List with low back discomfort.

Bassitt left his start on Wednesday after just 56 pitches, and there was some skepticism that he’d be able to make his next start. The Orioles seem to have given him every chance to be ready to start tonight, but it won’t happen. The 37-year-old will miss at least one more turn through the rotation and possibly more

Austin Slater

TB Right Fielder #40

Rays are calling up OF Austin Slater from Triple-A Durham, according to Tampa Bay Times’ Marc Topkin.

Slater signed a minor league deal on May 27 and hit .348 in six games at Triple-A. The 33-year-old has always done most of his damage against left-handed pitching, so he figures to fulfill a short-side platoon role when he arrives in Tampa Bay.

Ralphy Velazquez

CLE 1st Baseman #81

Guardians 1B prospect Ralphy Velazquez went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI for Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was promoted to Triple-A in the middle of May after hitting .317/.414/.566 with seven homers in 169 plate appearances over 36 games at Double-A Akron. He has since gone 13-for-54 (.241) at Triple-A with one home run, three RBI, and a 15/3 K/BB ratio. He’s the Guardians’ top prospect and the 56th-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, and could be an option to break camp with the team in 2027, if we have a baseball season.

Germán Márquez

SD Starting Pitcher #33

Germán Márquez (forearm) threw 4 scoreless for Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, striking out two and walking one.

Márquez threw 28 of his 47 pitches for strikes, and it’s a bit surprising the Padres didn’t look to push him for another inning. The 31-year-old was at 36 pitches in his last outing, so the team is clearly being cautious with his progression. That makes it seem like he’ll need at least one more rehab start before potentially returning to the MLB rotation.
