Luis Severino has been diagnosed with a strain of the shoulder capsule and subscapularis muscle.

Severino will be reevaluated in 4-6 weeks after receiving a PRP injection in his shoulder later this week. The 32-year-old is facing a lengthy absence and won’t make it back to the Athletics’ rotation mix until the second half of the year. He’ll need several weeks to build up his arm strength and stamina once he’s cleared to start a throwing progression.

Wyatt Langford drew a walk and swiped his 10th base of the season on Thursday as the Rangers eked out a victory over the Nationals.

Langford worked Clayton Beeter for a one-out walk in the seventh inning and promptly swiped second base to get himself into scoring position, but the Rangers couldn’t cash him in from there. He’s having a solid all-around season at the dish, slashing .251/.318/.454 with 14 homers, 33 RBI and 10 stolen bases in his first 324 plate appearances.

Jacob Latz closed out the Nationals on Thursday evening, protecting a two-run lead to notch his 25th save of the season.

The task became a bit easier for Latz after the Rangers tacked on an insurance run in the eighth inning, giving him an extra run to work with. He did issue a one-out walk to Harry Ford, but nothing came of it as Latz struck out each of the other three hitters that he faced. The 30-year-old southpaw has now converted 25 of his first 28 save chances on the season while posting a minuscule 1.75 ERA and a 61/15 K/BB ratio across 57 innings of work. He has been an absolute gold mine for fantasy managers who picked him up early in the season.

Jacob deGrom delivered a brilliant performance in Thursday night’s victory over the Nationals, striking out 10 batters over six innings of shutout baseball.

The 38-year-old right-hander allowed just one hit in the contest — a one-out single by Brady House in the second inning — while issuing one base on balls. The Rangers only gave him one run of support in this one and deGrom made sure that it stood up, as no Nationals’ hitter advanced past second base against him in the ballgame. He generated 17 swings and misses on 94 offerings — nine on his slider — while registering a strong CSW of 34 percent. Now 9-8 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 3.78 ERA and 1.13 WHIP when he takes on the White Sox in Chicago on Tuesday.

Andrew Alvarez pitched well in a losing effort against the Rangers on Thursday evening, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings.

The 27-year-old southpaw struck out five batters on the evening while issuing three walks. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Corey Seager in the third inning that went just over the outstretched glove of leaping outfielder Andrew Pinckney. Alvarez got eight whiffs on 75 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He now boasts a respectable 3.60 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 74/36 K/BB ratio over 80 innings on the season. He’ll square off against the Rockies his next time out at home on Tuesday.

Ketel Marte and his agent met with Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo and general manager Mike Hazen on Thursday.

The meeting was described as productive. The outcome from that, is an expectation that Marte will be placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday’s series opener against the Reds, as he’s dealing with inflammation in his hamstring and his knee. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that he’ll be able to return to action after a short stint on the injured list. It’s a tough spot for fantasy managers in redraft leagues without IL spots, as he’s going to miss a couple of weeks at a minimum and who knows what’s going to happen after that.

Luis García Jr. went 3-for-4 and blasted his 25th home run of the season on Thursday evening, powering the Yankees to a 6-1 victory over the Orioles.

The 26-year-old infielder ambushed the first pitch of the sixth inning from Kyle Bradish for a 413-foot (107.1-mph EV) solo shot that increased the Bombers’ lead to 4-1. He also singled in the eighth inning and scored on Jazz Chisholm’s RBI triple. With his three-hit attack, García is now slashing .279/.309/.541 with 25 homers, 80 RBI and four stolen bases in what has been an impressive breakout campaign.

Jones led off the third inning with a single and scored as Jose Caballero bounced into a fielder’s choice. He then crushed a 398-foot (108.0-mph EV) solo shot off of Kyle Bradish in the sixth inning that extended the Bombers’ advantage to 5-1. He also singled in the eighth inning and swiped second base but was ultimately left stranded there. Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 1-for-4 and smacked a run-scoring triple on Thursday as the Yankees triumphed over the Orioles.

Chisholm capped off the scoring in the contest as he plated Luis García Jr. with an RBI triple off of Albert Suarez in the eighth inning. That would be his lone hit in the ballgame. While he has delivered quality fantasy production with 17 homers and 33 stolen bases on the season, he has done so while slashing an anemic .216/.296/.388 across 463 plate appearancs.
