Jorge Polanco is being lifted off his rehab assignment because of his Achilles bursitis.

Polanco was supposed to play again Saturday after going 0-for-2 with two walks for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, but either player or team decided that was a bad idea. He’ll be reevaluated in New York.

Chris Bassitt (back) pitched decently in his second minor league rehab start at Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Bassitt struck out four batters on the afternoon while issuing one free pass. He threw 67 pitches in the contest, 47 of those for strikes. It’s possible that he’ll require one additional tune-up in the minors before he’s cleared to return to the Orioles’ rotation. It’s also possible that teams could be calling on Bassitt prior to Monday’s trade deadline.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Mets will receive outfielder Aidan Smith, right-hander Gary Gill Hill and second baseman Emilen Pitre from the Rays i exchange for Freddy Peralta.

Smith, 22, ranks as the 15th best prospect in the Rays’ system according to MLB Pipeline while Hill and Pitre rank 26th and 27th respectively. It’s not a bad return for a couple of months of Peralta and should help to replenish the Mets’ system.
