Patrick Corbin gave up five runs over three innings on Monday in a loss to the Phillies.

Corbin gave up four hits, including a two-run homer to Adolis García as he allowed four runs for the second consecutive start. The interesting wrinkle here is that Simeon Woods-Richardson tossed four scoreless innings out of the bullpen in his Toronto debut, which could set up a potential piggyback situation moving forward. Corbin is not a recommended fantasy option when he faces the Yankees on Sunday.

Tigers signed OF Michael Siani to a minor league contract.

Siani opted out of his minor league deal with the Orioles earlier in the week. The 27-year-old outfielder has hit just .167/.281/.242 with one homer and 17 RBI in 219 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll add outfield depth at Triple-A Toledo where the Tigers have been stretched thin recently.

Yankees signed RHP Justin Topa to a minor league contract.

Topa had signed a minor league deal with the Royals in early July but he exercised an opt-out clause earlier this week and has now latched on with the Yankees. The 35-year-old hurler holds an 8.05 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 12/11 K/BB ratio over 19 innings at the big league level this season.

Mariners selected the contract of INF Brock Rodden from Triple-A Tacoma.

As expected, the 26-year-old infielder will get his first shot at showing what he can do at the MLB level with Colt Emerson being optioned back to Triple-A Tacoma. Rodden hit .262/.342/.499 with 19 homers, 65 RBI and eight stolen bases in 410 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Lazaro Estrada to Triple-A Buffalo.

Estrada’s stay with the big league club lasted just one day this time around, as he’s being sent back down to make room on the active roster for the addition of Paul Sewald. The 27-year-old righty holds a 5.54 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 13 innings with the Jays on the season.

Javier Báez is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Friday’s critical divisional matchup against the White Sox.

The 33-year-old has been terrific since returning from the injured list, slashing .333/.362/.378 with eight RBI in 47 plate appearances in his first 11 games while playing stellar defense at several positions. They’ll get him a breather in this one though, even with an opposing left-hander starting on the hill in Sean Newcomb.

Héctor Rodríguez is not in the Reds’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s showdown against the Marlins.

The 22-year-old outfielder had started each of the team’s previous four games, so he’ll get a breather to accommodate a crowded outfield mix in Cincinnati. He’s just 2-for-23 (.087) with a 6/3 K/BB ratio in his first 26 plate appearances with the Reds. Noelvi Marte will start in his place in right field and bat eighth against Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins on Friday night.

Justin Sterner (knee) underwent surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

Sterner finishes with a rough 6.12 ERA in 46 appearances for the Athletics in 2026, a far cry from the 3.18 ERA he posted in 2025. The 29-year-old will remain under contract with the Athletics next season.

José Ramírez is not in the Guardians starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Padres.

Ramírez is drawing walks but has just two hits over his last four games since his last day off on Saturday. With Angel Genao up and Travis Bazanna and Brayan Rocchio playing well, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Guardians continued to give Ramírez more rest than usual. Genao is in there against RHP Michael King today.

Ceddanne Rafaela is not in Boston’s starting lineup against the Pirates on Friday.

Red Sox manager Chad Tracy had said they were looking to get him a day off at some point, and that’s all this appears to be. Eli White is batting ninth and playing center field against RHP Bubba Chandler.

White Sox designated LHP Joe Rock for assignment.

Rock walked 11 in 10 1/3 innings with the White Sox in June, though he somehow managed a 3.48 ERA. The 26-year-old could draw interest on waivers.
