POINT GUARD
Patrick Beverley – LA Clippers (at Denver)
The point guard position is somewhat underwhelming today, which has us deciding between several mediocre options. Of that group, Beverley steps up as a reasonable value streamer. He has logged 31 minutes in three of his past four games, averaging 30 fantasy points in those outings. Beverley has always been a scrappy player with the ability to rack up peripheral numbers in hustle categories like rebounds and steals. Hopefully he’ll be able to keep that going in tonight’s high-scoring draw with a 233 over/under.
Also Consider: Jamal Murray, Jeremy Lin
SHOOTING GUARD
DeMar DeRozan – San Antonio (at New York)
The Spurs have the best matchup of today’s abbreviated slate. As a result, I don’t mind stacking DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Rudy Gay in the same lineup. Marco Belinelli can be considered as a bargain filler as well. Of the San Antonio players, DeRozan is the highest DFS priority in my opinion. He was cold through most of January while also dealing with a lingering knee injury. It appears those woes are behind him, as DeRozan has produced 40+ fantasy points in three of his past five. Consider that his baseline with upside for much more against a bad New York defense.
Also Consider: Lou Williams, Evan Fournier, Marco Belinelli
SMALL FORWARD
Rudy Gay – San Antonio (at New York)
Gay is a promising mid-range option through all formats today. He’s averaging a strong 35 FPPG over his past three, and the San Antonio forward could expand that against a New York team that ranks 20th in defensive efficiency to opposing SFs. The salary is fairly relaxed, and Gay arguably has the best matchup of any small forward on this slate. That makes him a confident pick on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
Also Consider: Kawhi Leonard, Danilo Gallinari
POWER FORWARD
Paul Millsap – Denver (vs LA Clippers)
As mentioned earlier, this Denver-LA Clippers tilt has the highest over/under of the day at 233 total points. Millsap is a strong DFS asset within that while playing with a ton of confidence after posting 47+ fantasy points in each of his past two games. It appears that “Milly” has fully recovered from an ankle injury that caused him to miss three games in early February. As a result, the Denver forward has logged over 30 minutes in his past two games, and that should be his role moving forward. His hot streak could continue against a Clippers team that ranks 21st in defensive efficiency to opposing power forwards.
Also Consider: LaMarcus Aldridge, Pascal Siakam, Luke Kornet (strong value if starting)
CENTER
Mitchell Robinson – New York (vs San Antonio)
Robinson has been inconsistent recently, but we have also noticed traces of fantasy upside. In fact, the rookie was averaging 33 fantasy points over 22 minutes over his past six games before flopping on Friday with only 16 FP in 13 minutes vs Minnesota. So which version will we see tonight? Foul trouble is always a concern for the 7’1” big man, but there’s a chance Mitchell could see extended playing time with DeAndre Jordan doubtful. I’m optimistic the rookie can put himself together with a strong fantasy performance tonight, making him a reasonable DFS play with a lack of economical alternatives at center.
Also Consider: Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac (tournaments)
