POINT GUARD
Ja Morant – Memphis (vs. LA Lakers) - DK: $8,800 / FD: $8,600 / Yahoo: $39
Morant is a safe PG play tonight with plenty of upside. The first time the Grizzlies played the Lakers, Morant went off for a 40-point, 10-assist double-double worth 65 fantasy points. The Lakers continue to be one of the best guard matchups in the league (third-most fantasy points allowed). This game has one of the highest point totals of the night, and Memphis is a six-point home favorite. Morant makes for a reasonably priced, drama-free play for all lineups tonight.
Also Consider: Jalen Brunson, Eric Bledsoe, Chris Paul, Kemba Walker, LaMelo Ball, Derrick Walton (if Cade Cunningham is out)
SHOOTING GUARD
Zach LaVine – Chicago (vs. Atlanta) - DK: $10,100 / FD: $8,600 / Yahoo: $39
Atlanta is super-depleted making this an easier call, but even when healthy the Hawks are a pretty good fantasy matchup, allowing the eighth-most overall fantasy points per game. LaVine just crushed this matchup on Monday night, scoring 30 points with nine assists and four rebounds. Lonzo Ball remains out tonight, which should give LaVine and DeMar DeRozan even more usage than normal. Take advantage of the high Bulls team total with another solid play I’m using in both cash games and GPPs.
Also Consider: Jordan Clarkson, Devin Booker, Tyler Herro, Hamidou Diallo, Duncan Robinson, Norman Powell, Desmond Bane
SMALL FORWARD
Dorian Finney-Smith – Dallas (at Sacramento) - DK: $5,800 / FD: $6,200 / Yahoo: $20
Finney-Smith isn’t a guy I usually target on such a big slate, but his salary fits really well with the rest of my build. It helps that the Mavericks play Sacramento, the third-most generous team for fantasy with a 27thdefensive rating and the sixth-highest pace. The Kings are allowing Top 10 fantasy points to small forwards, and without Luka Doncic, DFS is putting up 25-35 fantasy points per game and playing close to 40 MPG.
Also Consider: DeMar DeRozan, Nassir Little, Buddy Hield, Gordon Hayward, Cam Reddish
POWER FORWARD
Kristaps Porzingis – Dallas (at Sacramento) - DK: $9,400 / FD: $8,900 / Yahoo: $40
Much of what I just said about Finney-Smith is also true for Porzingis, albeit at a higher price point. When healthy, he’s as good as almost any big man in the league. He’s become the focal point for Dallas with Doncic out on the COVID list. Porzingis is filling up the stat sheet in his last two games with four blocks and three steals to go along with his impressive 30 points per game average. Look for more of the same from him in one of the best frontcourt (and overall) fantasy matchups in the league. The game has a 220-point total and a narrow spread, perfect conditions for our purposes.
Also Consider: Domantas Sabonis, LeBron James, Jaren Jackson, Isaiah Roby, Jalen Smith, Robert Williams
CENTER
Omer Yurtseven – Miami (at San Antonio) - DK: $4,600 / FD: $5,500 / Yahoo: $12
Fortunately, we have plenty of places to save with seemingly half the league in protocols. Yurtseven is one of my favorites as his role with the Heat is growing game by game. For five games in a row, he’s scored at least 24 fantasy points and he’s gone from 18 MPG to 32 in that span. All five of those games featured double-digit rebounds and his scoring matched in the most recent two. Here’s hoping he makes it three double-doubles in a row for the Heat as they take on the fourth-best center matchup in the Spurs tonight.
Also Consider: Nikola Vucevic, Rudy Gobert, Mitchell Robinson
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Jordan Clarkson (G – UTA) In a game I haven’t had the chance to mention yet, the Jazz are moderate favorites over the Trail Blazers on the road. With Donovan Mitchell sidelined, it is Clarkson who takes on the bigger offensive role for Utah. He not only has great numbers vs. Portland earlier in the season, he is coming off a 23-point, eight-rebound, five-assist game with two steals. He’s a mid-low salary tier player who should provide a solid floor and 40-plus fantasy point upside.
Hamidou Diallo (G/F – DET) has 10 steals in his last three games, including five in the one against the Knicks last week. He’s pretty much contributing in every category and his scoring reached 28 points in the Pistons most recent game vs. the Spurs. This isn’t a game I’ve targeted heavily, but when I can’t quite reach Caris LeVert or Tyler Herro, Diallo is a player I don’t mind slotting in, especially with Cade Cunningham out again.
Isaiah Roby (PF/C – OKC) Here is a minimum salary guy with nothing but opportunity given the state of the Thunder frontcourt. He and Mike Muscala are the only guys standing and Roby got the start last night in Sacramento, putting up a reasonable 20 fantasy point. He had opportunities last year and was able to do a lot more. I think he’ll have equally good or better numbers tonight as the rust shakes off and even though the matchup with Phoenix is a bad one on paper, I’m going with opportunity on Roby. He allows me to fit the stars I really want in the rest of my lineups.
