Week 10 NFL DFS Fades

Michael Carter

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

When setting your weekly NFL DFS lineups, it can be just as helpful to have an idea of whom you DON’T want to include as whom you do. Every Friday we’ll highlight a few players that you might want to fade. When a player appears here, it mainly refers to fading him in cash games. If you play in a lot of large field, multi-entry tournaments, you might consider just being underweight on these players relative to the field rather than not using them at all.

Players I’m fading for Week 10 include:

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles at Denver

Maybe it’s the trauma of watching Dak Prescott last week, but I’m not eager to roster any QB facing the Broncos right now. Prescott did end up somewhat pulling his fantasy day out of the toilet with two garbage time touchdowns to Malik Turner, but it was not confidence-inspiring. Only Buffalo allows fewer fantasy points to QBs this season. What’s worse is that as much as I love Hurts (and rely on him in season-long leagues), he hasn’t been himself the last two games. The rushing floor is still there, but the passing is hit or miss, and he’s gone without a passing touchdown in three games this season.

New Orleans QB at Tennessee

It seems likely that Trevor Siemian will start, but that Taysom Hill will be involved, as was the arrangement last weekend. Tennessee is a decently good passing matchup, and the No. 1 WR matchup for fantasy, so it sucks to not be able to fully embrace this position. Siemian did show a high-volume pass attack, and nearly led the team to a come-from-behind victory which is a situation that could be in play again. Even with Alvin Kamara now questionable, I find myself unable to commit to Siemian with Hill active except in the context of multi-entry GPP lineups, where I’ll pair him with Deonte Harris, his favorite target of Week 9.

Michael Carter, NY Jets vs. Buffalo

I love Carter as much as the next person, but I don’t think the Bills are going to roll over and play dead two weeks in a row. Despite the upset in Jacksonville last weekend, Buffalo is still the best defense in the league, allowing the fewest fantasy points to RB, QB and WR. Carter’s price has crept high enough that I’d rather not risk him putting up a single digit fantasy line when there are so many great RB options this week. Save elsewhere!

T.J. Hockenson, Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh

There aren’t many TE options on the main slate with all the usual options playing in island games (that works in our favor in Mike Gesicki’s case). Beyond Kyle Pitts, my favorite choice, you get a lot of question marks. Hockenson is actually coming off one of his better games since Week 2, but I don’t like his chance to build on that against the Steelers this week. The Lions have the lowest implied team total of the whole week, and the Steelers should do a good job of running Najee Harris and winding down the clock on Sunday. The Jared Goff-Hockenson connection just hasn’t been strong enough to override these negative game factors for me.

Players I like, but who are expected to have high ownership in Week 10 include: Justin Herbert, Tom Brady, Najee Harris, Dalvin Cook, Aaron Jones, Mike Evans, Kyle Pitts, Pat Friermuth, Bills D/ST, Steelers D/ST, Colts D/ST. You might consider deviating away from this player pool and pivoting in large GPPs if you’re after a more unique lineup.
