Below is a brief look at a PPR mock draft featured in the Draft Guide.
August is here and with it comes an endless stream of mock drafts. This particular one is a 12-team PPR draft which took place on Tuesday, August 6. No draft will go exactly the same as this one, but it should at worst offer a snapshot of how players are being valued early in draft season.
Round 1
1.1 – Jennifer Eakins (4for4) – Saquon Barkley
1.2 – Christopher Crawford (Rotoworld) – Ezekiel Elliott
1.3 – Josh Hornsby (RotoGrinders) – David Johnson
1.4 – Giana Pacinelli (RotoViz) – Alvin Kamara
1.5 – John Daigle (Rotoworld) – Christian McCaffrey
1.6 – Raymond Summerlin (Rotoworld) – DeAndre Hopkins
1.7 – Hayden Winks (Rotoworld) – Davante Adams
1.8 – Anthony Amico (FantasyLabs) – Julio Jones
1.9 – Derek Brown (TheQuantEdge) – Odell Beckham
1.10 – Kate Magdziuk (RotoViz) – Le’Veon Bell
1.11 – Patrick Daugherty (Rotoworld) – Michael Thomas
1.12 – Jesse Pantuosco (Rotoworld) – Joe Mixon
Notes: Especially given what has happened to Melvin Gordon, it is surprising to see Elliott consistently sticking in the top five of fantasy drafts – he went fifth in a best ball draft I participated in a couple of days after this draft. Zeke would unquestionably be a top-three selection without the contract concerns, but the longer this wears on, the more difficult it will be to take him over receivers like DeAndre Hopkins and Davante Adams, especially in the wake of Le’Veon Bell sitting out all of last season.
The most shocking development of this draft happened at pick five. Despite this being a PPR league, McCaffrey fell behind Barkley, Elliott, Johnson, and Kamara. The Barkley vs. McCaffrey argument could go either way, but Elliott’s contract situation means McCaffrey should be at worst the No. 2 overall pick in PPR formats. Daigle getting him with the fifth pick is an outstanding value.
