Dolphins sign LB Jordyn Brooks to extension

The Cardinals are slated to enter the season with Brissett as the starter, but Brissett’s contract calls for just $1.5 million in guarantees this season. The 33-year-old desires a starter-level contract and could be a candidate for a hold-in. Rapoport reports the team agrees that Brissett deserves a pay bump and the two sides have been negotiating “for months”, though a deal has not yet been reached.

Johnson is a former undrafted free agent out of Oregon, spending his rookie 2025 season with the Eagles. He was primarily on the practice squad, appearing in three games and tallying three combined tackles for Philadelphia. After getting waived last month, the Seahawks add Johnson as cornerback depth ahead of training camp. Tight end Harrison Bryant was waived in a corresponding move.

LaPorta underwent surgery last year for a herniated disc, ending his 2025 season early. The surgery seems to have fixed the issue as Fowler reports the 25-year-old was “fully cleared earlier this month.” With training camp coming up, this is a good sign for LaPorta to be a full participant. The Lions will need him healthy to learn the offense under new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing before the season starts.

He can be pulled off at any time. Jennings was the RB3 last year for New England when healthy and figures to be part of the competition again this year if healthy.

No big surprise here that the Patriots will take it easy with the 30-year-old EDGE rusher after he was plagued by this injury down the stretch and didn’t do much in the offseason program. It would be a bigger blow if this kept Landry out at the start of the season, and we don’t have any sort of timeline for his return at this point. Players put on the active/PUP list are eligible to come off at any time.

McFadden believes that Washington will see “meaningful snaps,” and while the Raiders could still add a back to the roster to help on third downs, Washington looks to be their clear backup at this point. Given how Klint Kubiak split reps at the running back position last year in Seattle, there’s at least a chance that Washington could be a name of fantasy interest this year. Getting any amount of first-team reps as a rookie is a good sign.

Bell tore his ACL late last season while playing for Louisville and is not guaranteed to return before the start of the season, though he can be pulled off this list at any time. The lack of reps he’s getting this offseason will likely make it hard for him to make a real case to be in Miami’s pecking order right when he’s ready. We’re expecting Bell to have a non-zero chance of being an interesting fantasy play later in the season, but in most leagues he can be left on waivers.

To say the least, it’s going to be hard for the Eagles to recoup major draft capital in a trade for McKee if he can’t beat out an Andy Dalton who looked extremely washed last offseason. The backup quarterback battle updates in July will continue until morale improves.

To be clear, the headline of this article said Taylor “could — and should — hold in” and the article itself mostly focuses on why he should and would have a lot of leverage if he attempted to. There’s not exactly a pull quote here from Taylor that suggests he’s leaning one way or the other. But Boyd has been on the beat in Indianapolis for a bit and we believe there’s a real chance this happens. Taylor didn’t technically hold in during an acrimonious contract dispute ahead of the 2023 season so much as he dealt with a right ankle injury that suddenly healed after he got a contract before Week 5. Boyd believes Taylor “despite being three years older, has more leverage now than he did in 2023.” The Colts certainly don’t have a real backup plan for him at running back based on how last season and this offseason went.

Watson’s last live snap was in October 2024. This mostly seems to be a point about how Watson will play a lot in the preseason even if Shedeur Sanders grabs the lead in the QB1 derby. The bread crumbs in the article tend towards Watson, noting “Monken called run/pass option plays and even the occasional designed keeper for Watson, the coach has stressed that he believes Sanders can operate a similar offense” while adding that Watson’s best chance to win the job lies in “his athleticism and ability to both extend and freelance plays.” It remains hard to trust whoever is named the starter here will keep the job for more than a month or two.
