Christian Watson caught 6-of-8 targets for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ Week 1 loss to the Vikings.

Watson got on the board early with an 81-yard bomb for a touchdown in the first quarter. He continued to gash the Vikings for big plays throughout the contest and even got in the end zone a second time on a short toss from Jordan Love just before halftime. Watson slowed down in the second half, but the damage was already done, at least for fantasy purposes. He won’t hit a career-long score every week, but the well-paid wideout certainly looked like a focal point of the Packers’ passing attack today. He will be in the WR2 mix when the Packers take on the Jets.

Watson drew lockdown corner Joey Porter Jr. for much of the game, something that aided teammate Matthew Golden in leading the team in both targets and receiving in the win. The talented fifth-year receiver is already within 74 yards of setting a new career high in receiving while also being just one touchdown shy of a new high water mark, two achievements he will look to unlock when the Packers face off against the Lions in a potential shootout in Week 7. Watson remains a back-end WR1 for that matchup.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
Watson’s 143-yard outburst was the third highest receiving total of his career, joining a Week 11 2024 effort and his 6/147/2 broadside against the Vikings this Week 1. Rather amazingly, the two-score effort was his seventh. This one came in true Watson fashion, as he found the end zone from 42 and 53 yards out. For the 42-yarder he ran right by the defense. For the 53-yarder, he high-pointed the ball off the defender’s helmet in the end zone. It was just that kind of day for the Packers, and it’s been just that kind of season for a wideout in Watson who continues to break out. Now firmly in the weekly WR1 mix, Watson has a potential Week 6 smash spot in the sorry Cowboys.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
After scoring four touchdowns over the first three weeks, Watson finally cooled off with his first quiet game of the year. Jordan Love couldn’t get the deep ball going in this game and funneled the short targets to Tucker Kraft and Matthew Golden, leaving Watson without much to do. For a player known for having a low floor, 47 yards is a stunningly reasonable floor game. Watson is simply too good at picking up chunk gains to have the bottom truly fall out. He remains a boom/bust WR2 for his Week 5 date with the Bears.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
Watson now has four touchdowns through three games while ranking one target behind Matthew Golden for the team lead at 29. Even better news for fantasy managers is the fact that we’re likely to see this sudden spike in pass volume continue forward given the current state of the Green Bay backfield and offensive line, meaning fantasy managers can continue to start Watson as a legitimate WR1 ahead of a road meeting with the pass-funnel Buccaneers in Week 4.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
It was not a pretty game for Watson or the Packers’ offense, which struggled to move the ball against the Jets in a light drizzle all game. While Watson and Jordan Love were inefficient in their connection, they did link up for some big catches, including a short fourth-quarter touchdown. Watson led the team in targets while running one fewer route than Matthew Golden. There is some concern that losing Jayden Reed (neck) to an injury may put even more attention on Watson, but this felt like an off-day for the offense. The ceiling remains really high for Watson this season, especially next week against the Falcons.

Prior reports indicated that the Packers’ coaching staff realized that their frequent wide receiver rotation was rubbing their stars the wrong way, prompting a positional personnel churn this offseason. LaFleur’s comments confirm the Packers’ starting wide receiver trio is going to play a lot, and fantasy managers should take note. Watson played extremely well in his recent from an ACL tear last year. If that play carries over, he is a shoo-in WR2 with substantial upside. Golden could be in for a Year 2 leap, and Reed could reliably return FLEX value, or better, if his snap share is high enough.
  • GB Wide Receiver #11
We know this is getting into the weeds, but Reed’s weekly range of outcomes will be somewhat dependent on his access to heavy personnel packages. Through three NFL seasons, Reed has taken just 31 snaps in 12 personnel, so even a mild increase would boost his target-earning opportunities. Packers QB Jordan Love confirmed that second-year WR Matthew Golden is replacing WR Romeo Doubs as the X-receiver when speaking with the media today, so Golden and Watson (Z-receiver) will likely take the majority of 12 personnel reps this season. If Reed can at least send Golden to the sideline for a decent share of those opportunities, his fantasy managers would stand to benefit.

The extension was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal includes a $31 million signing bonus. The Packers have stocked their receiver room for years now. Green Bay let Romeo Doubs walk in free agency this offseason, but signed Watson and Jayden Reed to extensions this offseason after drafting Matthew Golden last year. Watson appeared in only 48 games in four seasons with the Packers. He appeared in just 10 games last year, but arguably had his best season and that was enough for Green Bay to lock him in as their top wideout for years to come.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter breaks the news, adding that Wicks will now sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles. Over the last four weeks, they also signed WR Hollywood Brown and WR Elijah Moore as well. Schefter reminds us that if the Eagles were to trade away WR A.J. Brown, that would probably happen after June 1st, “when the cap burden would be more manageable for the Eagles.” As things currently stand, Wicks will likely compete for WR3 duties. The trade also leaves Packers WR Christian Watson, WR Jayden Reed and WR Matthew Golden as the team’s top-three options after allowing WR Romeo Doubs to sign with the Patriots last month. The Eagles tacked on an additional year to Wicks’ contract after the deal, tying him to the franchise through the 2027 season. The extension includes $12.5 million in maximum money with $9 million guaranteed.

Watson remains under contract through 2026, having signed a one-year extension in September 2025. The 26-year-old wide receiver suffered a season-ending ACL tear in 2024 and retook the field for the first time in Week 8, 2025. He impressively averaged a career-high 2.28 yards per route run despite coming off a significant knee injury.

Browns head coach Todd Monken said he’s “optimistic” Quinshon Judkins (ankle) will play in Week 7 against the Titans.

Monken sounded like Judkins and Dylan Sampson will be active and ready to go against Tennessee. Judkins had been the locked-in lead back for Cleveland before his Week 5 ankle injury, seeing 71 percent of the team’s designed rushing attempts. The potential return of Sampson, a good pass catcher, could complicate things for Judkins’ involvement in the pass game going forward. Judkins will be a touchdown-dependent flex play against a Titans defense allowing the NFL’s ninth lowest rushing success rate in 2026.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes Vita Vea could be traded before the NFL’s trade deadline.

With the Bucs’ 2026 season circling the drain, Vea, 31, could be dealt in the coming weeks to a contending team looking to beef up their defensive line for a second half run to the postseason. In coming to a contract compromise with Vea before the regular season, the Bucs “didn’t act as if he was part of their long-term future, and if teams come looking for a big, run-stuffing defensive tackle, Tampa would be silly not to listen,” Graziano said. Vea through Week 6 has a 17 percent pass rush win rate, which ranks 15th among defensive tackles.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Christian Kirk is a “possibility” for Week 7.

Kirk has been on injured reserve with a calf injury but could return to the Niners’ injury-ravaged receivers room this Sunday against the pass-funnel Falcons defense. “He had two good practices (last week). It was just his first two practices of the year,” Shanahan said of Kirk, who last year had 239 yards and a touchdown in 13 regular season games for the Texans. “We were down on wideouts, so it was still something we discussed, but we decided to give it another week.” If Kirk returns and plays something close to a full complement of snaps against Atlanta, he could function as the team’s No. 1 receiver with Mike Evans (Achilles) seemingly unlikely to suit up. Kirk should be rostered in most 12-team leagues and all deeper formats.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) won’t practice this week.

Loomis said Tyson is “improving” in his long rehab from a major preseason hamstring injury. Tyson, who traveled with the Saints to France for their Week 7 game against the Steelers, could still be a couple weeks away as the team takes a cautious approach to his recovery. In the meantime, Bryce Lance will operate as the Saints’ No. 2 wideout behind Chris Olave. Lance over the past two weeks has a 13 percent target share and a 20 percent air yards share in the pass-first New Orleans offense.

NFL suspended Sam Franklin for one game.

Franklin, who was seen spitting on a Raiders player late in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ Week 6 win, will not receive pay during his one-game suspension. Franklin will be able to appeal the NFL’s decision in the coming days. The Bills on are bye in Week 7.

The Athletic’s Noah Furtado reports the Chargers will try to “simplify” the team’s offense in the coming weeks.

Justin Herbert and the flailing Chargers skill position players have appeared almost comically confused about all the pre-snap motion OC Mike McDaniel uses. That came through in the team’s embarrassing Week 6 loss to the Chiefs when players were bumping into each other during pre-snap motion calls from Herbert. Head coach Jim Harbaugh acknowledged the team is considering narrowing the offensive playbook during their bye week. “Definitely looking at volume and where you can make it to where the players can understand,” Harbaugh said when asked about how Chargers players were adjusting to McDaniel’s complex offense. The Chargers have used pre-snap motion on 74 percent of their snaps, the fourth highest rate in the NFL. Last year they used motion on 56 percent of their snaps. Hopefully these adjustments lead to some production for the NFL’s worst offense.

Colts signed P Thomas Morstead to the practice squad.

Morstead spent 12 years punting for the Saints before making stops with the Jets, Falcons, Dolphins, and 49ers over the last five seasons. The 40-year-old veteran averaged 43.6 yards per punt for San Francisco last year. Current Colts punter Rigoberto Sanchez was injured during a blocked punt in the Colts’ Week 6 loss to the Titans. Morstead joins the Colts’ practice squad as insurance in case Sanchez cannot play Week 7 against the Vikings.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Terrance Ferguson (ankle) “will take some time” to come off injured reserve.

Ferguson is eligible to come off injured reserve next week, but Schefter reports that a source told him Ferguson’s recovery “will take some time.” The Rams placed Davante Adams on injured reserve this week and are in desperate need of pass-catching help behind Puka Nacua. Ferguson is a rising receiving tight end for the Rams, but has been on injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury in Week 3. Though he is a good IR stash for fantasy purposes, Ferguson is going to take longer than the minimum four weeks to return. Without a good timeline for return, he can be released from fantasy rosters in dire need of more immediate help during bye weeks.

Patriots CB Carlton Davis (neck) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

It was an upgrade from an estimated Monday DNP. Davis has missed Week 2, Week 3, Week 5 and Week 6 to the neck listing so far. Perhaps he’ll try to give it a go on Thursday night, but we’d be surprised if he did better than a questionable tag on Wednesday.

TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) practiced in full on Tuesday.

It’s been a stunningly quick recovery from what looked to be a high-ankle sprain that could sideline him. Henderson has practiced in full both days this week. We’re not concerned that he won’t play, but after fumble problems struck last week and Corey Kiner closed out the Jets in the fourth quarter, we do have slightly lowered expectations for his Thursday night stat line.
