MarShawn Lloyd rushed six times for 20 yards in the Packers’ Week 2 win over the Jets, adding six yards receiving and a touchdown.

Perhaps more importantly, Lloyd lost a key fumble in the second half and then was barely on the field after that. The 25-year-old had plenty of trouble earning yards in the running game, but he was wide open on a well-designed screen pass in the first half for a touchdown catch. Lloyd played on just 16 of the Packers’ 53 snaps and handled seven of their 19 carries. This is a confusing committee that isn’t giving any running back real value, and Josh Jacobs could return at some point near the middle of the season. Fantasy managers in shallow leagues don’t need to hold onto Lloyd, and others could look to trade him away on the back of his receiving touchdown.
Late-game execution decides Ravens vs. Cowboys
Devin McCourty, Mike Tomlin, Jason Garrett and Maria Taylor discuss the late-game execution by the Baltimore Ravens which resulted in a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3.

The Packers largely played in a trailing game script last night. Lloyd does not have meaningful access to passing down snaps, logging just one snap on third down and none in the two-minute drill, making him mostly dependent on decent rushing workloads. He played 45.5 percent of the red zone snaps and took the lone snap inside the five-yard line, but was held out of the end zone. Lloyd’s six touches led the backfield, but are hardly enough to keep him locked in 12-team FLEX spots.

The two backs combined for the only eight running back rush attempts on a night the Packers’ offensive line was completely manhandled by an aggressive and athletic Atlanta front. Lloyd took his four carries for 11 yards while Johnson managed only six on his four totes. Both backs were targeted three times through the air, with Johnson going for 10 yards on one reception and Lloyd managing just seven yards on two grabs. This backfield is a complete mess amidst Josh Jacobs’ absence and mounting injuries along the offensive line, with neither back anywhere near a usable fantasy asset ahead of a Week 4 road matchup with the pass-funnel Buccaneers.

Chris Brooks drew the start in this game and held a carries advantage over Lloyd for a while. Matt LaFleur eventually came to his senses and got Lloyd more involved, though it didn’t result in much production. He averaged a measly 2.8 yards per carry and didn’t catch his lone target. Lloyd will project for more carries than Brooks in Week 2, but he’s a committee back without a role in the passing game. Lloyd will shuffle to the back of the RB3 ranks versus the Jets next week.

The NFL is “closely monitoring all developments in the matter, which remains under review of the personal conduct policy.” We expect Jacobs to receive a suspension, but the league can move at its own pace. Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd is expected to serve as the fill-in starter.

Jacobs’ trial was initially slated to take place on November 17th. That date was recently moved up to today, signaling that Jacobs wanted to wrap up his legal proceedings quickly. He has been on the Commissioner’s Exempt List since the end of training camp. Roger Goodell could have kept him on the list indefinitely, especially with the trial previously scheduled multiple months into the season. With the legal matter now settled, Jacobs will likely serve a minor suspension as a result of the charges. MarShawn Lloyd is expected to handle the bulk of the carries until he returns.

“Asked if there’s a scenario in which the Packers release Jacobs, Gutekunst says he wants to let the process play out,” The Athletic’s Matt Schneidmann said. Jacobs on Sunday was placed on the Commissioners Exempt List while his legal situation plays out. Jacobs in May was arrested and booked on five charges, including felony strangulation. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Monday that Jacobs’ time on the exempt list was, for now, indefinite, and hinged entirely on how his legal situation unfolds. If damning video evidence is released, Jacobs could miss most or all of the regular season. MarShawn Lloyd would start the year as Green Bay’s lead back and has a chance to be one of fantasy’s best running back values.

Jacobs was charged on two misdemeanors last week after initially being arrested in late May on five counts, including one felony. Jacobs will still be paid but will be unable to participate in practice while he remains on the exempt list, although players are typically allowed to participate in team meetings. There is no telling how long Jacobs will remain on the exempt list as only the Commissioner holds the authority to remove him. Jacobs’ initial appearance in court is not scheduled until November, coinciding with Week 11, leaving a wide range of outcomes for fantasy managers to begin the season. Reading the tea leaves paints a morbid picture for Jacobs’ availability to start the 2026 regular season in less than two short weeks. MarShawn Lloyd suddenly finds himself atop the backfield depth chart in Green Bay and is a priority waiver addition for leagues that have already drafted, and should be treated as an upside back in the middle rounds of drafts.

Pelissero reminds us that Jacobs was “originally booked on five charges, including felony strangulation.” He now faces “reduced charges of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property.” The NFL continues to monitor all developments in the matter, which remains under review. Jacobs could end up being suspended. His backups are RB MarShawn Lloyd, who has performed well all spring and summer, and RB Chris Brooks. Lloyd should be a priority in drafts at this time. According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, the police department’s full incident report indicates that the department is in possession of a video showing Jacobs striking a woman after throwing her to the ground.

“We’ve obviously been preparing for that in case that happens,” Gutekunst said when asked about Jacobs, who in May was arrested on domestic abuse charges. “But at the same time, I feel really good about the guys we have in that room.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said in August that the league would likely suspend Jacobs, though the length of the suspension had yet to be determined. MarShawn Lloyd would likely function as Green Bay’s lead back if Jacobs — who’s dealing with a lingering groin issue — misses regular season games. The oft-injured Lloyd has stayed healthy this offseason and has reportedly run well in training camp and joint practices. In last week’s preseason game against Denver, Lloyd played on 5-of-7 snaps during the first drive with the team’s starters.

Lloyd played on 5-of-7 snaps during the first drive, giving way to RB Chris Brooks for third- and fourth-and-inches. Lloyd looks fast and powerful and can be treated as a high-end bench stash with potential standalone value. His touchdown occurred on a nifty catch-and-run play over the middle. Starting RB Josh Jacobs (groin) did not play.

Derrick Henry rushed 26 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens’ Week 3 win over the Cowboys.

Fantasy managers won’t balk at the production Henry provided their lineups in Sunday’s win over the Cowboys, but the Big Dog was largely bottled up against a suddenly stingy defensive front. Henry’s longest run came on a 29-yard burst in the third quarter that helped set up a Chris Moore receiving touchdown, but that run also accounted for 32.6 percent of Henry’s yards on the ground. He averaged a very underwhelming 2.4 YPC on his other 25 carries on the day and was tackled for a three-yard loss on a fourth-and-goal from the Cowboys’ one-yard line. The good news is Henry remains the unquestioned bell cow in the Ravens’ backfield, and he has a Week 4 revenge game against the Titans on tap. He’ll be a must start RB1 in what should be a plus matchup.

Kyler Murray completed 15-of-29 attempts for 168 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Vikings’ Week 3 win against the Bucs, adding two rushes for 17 yards.

In his first action since sustaining a concussion in Week 1, Murray wasn’t asked to do much in this one. He was about 4 percent below his expected pass rate on the day with an average depth of target of 9.4 yards. Murray targeted Jordan Addison heavily after Justin Jefferson left the game with an ankle injury, connecting with Addison on a 41-yard score and narrowly missing the speedy downfield wideout for another touchdown. Murray took three sacks and avoided a handful of other sacks against a Tampa front seven missing key players. Murray likely won’t be a 12-team starting play in Week 4 against the Dolphins even if Jefferson suits up.

Elic Ayomanor caught 1-of-3 targets for 11 yards in the Titans’ Week 3 loss to the Giants.

It goes down as his second one-catch, three-target, 11-yard game of the season. He posted those exact numbers in Week 1, though with a touchdown for good measure. Ayomanor popped for 69 yards in Week 2 but failed to find the big play in this game, cratering his numbers. As the WR3 on one of the worst offenses in football, he is not on the fantasy radar for Week 4.

Trey McBride caught 9-of-11 targets for 75 yards in the Cardinals’ Week 3 loss to the 49ers.

McBride had a big receiving day, though penalties prevented it from being more productive. His first reception was called back due to offensive pass interference while he drew defensive pass interference in the endzone on a 4th-and-1 play. He continues to be the Cardinals’ most effective target on immediate routes, slashing through the 49ers defense for 75 yards. Not much more nuance is needed here, McBride is a fantasy TE1 for Week 4 against the Giants.

Michael Mayer caught 3-of-3 targets for 32 yards and one touchdown in the Raiders’ Week 3 win over the Saints.

Mayer scored with just under six minutes left in the first half. Coach Klint Kubiak sent TE Brock Bowers in motion, back and forth across the formation, behind the line of scrimmage, before QB Kirk Cousins executed the play-action fake. Mayer ran an out route from the slot and shook S Justin Reid on the cut before quickly hauling in the pass. Mayer’s other two catches both went for double-digit yardage gains. He will be a viable high-end TE2 moving forward, with defenses focused on stopping Bowers.

T.J. Hockenson caught 2-of-4 targets for 11 yards in the Vikings’ Week 3 win against the Bucs.

Running a route on 29 of the team’s 37 drop backs, Hockenson was uninvolved in the offense even after Justin Jefferson exited the game with an ankle injury in the first half. Hockenson, who has nine grabs over the Vikings’ first three games, profiles as a low-floor weekly option in a Minnesota offense that has not passed at its usual volume early in the season.

Rams TE Terrance Ferguson (ankle) was taken to the locker room for x-rays in the first quarter of Week 3 against the Broncos.

Ferguson got tangled up on a target half way through the first quarter and limped to the sideline under his own power. He was then escorted to the locker room for x-rays. No additional update has been provided.

Tyler Allgeier rushed two times for a loss of a yard in the Cardinals’ Week 3 loss to the 49ers, adding four receptions for 10 yards.

Allgeier lost nearly all high-value touches to Jeremiyah Love in Week 3, falling far behind the rookie in total opportunities and sinking further in total snaps. He saw 31 snaps to Love’s 55, seeing just six touches to Love’s 26. Allgeier’s most usage came in passing-down situations, catching four passes while pass-blocking was his most prominent role. Allgeier holds little standalone value with Love taking over the backfield; he is a valuable fantasy handcuff for now.

Jake Ferguson caught 3-of-5 targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Week 3’s loss to the Ravens.

Ferguson continues to make the most of his limited targets. Despite seeing just nine targets in his last two games, the veteran tight end has turned three of those into scores. Ferguson hauled in a 19-yard touchdown catch from Dak Prescott in the third quarter against the Ravens, but was otherwise held to just four yards on his other four targets. The touchdowns are encouraging, but we will need to see more targets before we can elevate Ferguson into TE1 territory. He’ll be a boom-or-bust TE2 next week against the Texans.

Jeremiyah Love rushed 21 times for 90 yards in the Cardinals’ Week 3 loss to the 49ers, adding five receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown.

Love tallied a career-high 26 touches in Week 3, gashing the 49ers’ banged-up offensive line for over 100 total yards. The rookie out-snapped Tyler Allgeier 55-to-31 while also out-touching him 26-to-6. Nearly all the high-value touches went to Love, who scored on a play-action pass at the one-yard line. The path to true workhorse usage is wide open for Love after a monstrous workload and productive fantasy day against the 49ers. He is a high-end RB2 for Week 4 against the Giants.
