ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reports that Michael Pittman (foot) was in “the locker room with his left foot propped up on a scooter.”

Pittman has been playing through a foot injury this season and was seen participating in team stretches earlier today. Although the scooter use is alarming, this is likely just load management. Pittman is a boom-bust FLEX against the Colts this weekend.
Simmons’ trade ‘a great deal’ for both sides
Dan Patrick shares his instant reaction to the Titans trading Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears, calling the move "a great deal" for both sides.

Pittman aggravated the foot injury that cost him Week 2 last week and will now miss four games, at minimum, while on injured reserve. Roman Wilson appears to be the primary beneficiary of Pittman’s absence and has seen six targets in each game this season while mostly playing a situational role. Wilson is a priority waiver addition over rookie Germie Bernard.

McCarthy told reporters the team is evaluating Pittman’s roster spot, meaning they could place him on injured reserve. He would miss at least four weeks while on IR. Pittman tried to play through the foot injury but only made it two weeks before aggravating the issue. He was spotted using a scooter to support his foot in the locker room on Wednesday. We suspect the Steelers will place him on IR to give Pittman enough time to fully recover. Germie Bernard will now operate as the team’s permanent WR3, with Roman Wilson taking on more work as the clear No. 2 receiver. Both players will be decent FLEX options for Week 5.

That makes two consecutive games with two receptions for the veteran X receiver, who continues to be handily outplayed by teammate Roman Wilson. Pittman brings his season total in receptions to seven after missing Week 2 with injury and remains largely confined to the short areas of the field. The Steelers made good on their promise to increase their 12-personnel utilization against the Browns, and it was Pittman who saw his route participation suffer the most. Pittman is quickly bordering drop candidate territory ahead of a Week 5 meeting with the Colts.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
Pittman was back in action after missing Week 2’s game with a foot injury. Despite being on the field for 28 routes, the veteran receiver struggled to make much of an impact, making two eight-yard receptions on back-to-back drives before fading into the distance. Pittman has caught 5-of-8 targets for 74 scoreless yards this season and shouldn’t be counted on for Week 4’s game against the Browns.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
It was reported earlier on Sunday that Pittman was expected to suit up, so this isn’t much of a surprise. Despite being ready to go, Pittman will be hard to trust this week against a much-improved Bengals defense. He caught just three passes for 58 yards on three targets in his lone game this season and his best left on fantasy benches in most cases.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
Pittman missed last week’s game with the foot issue and was limited in practice throughout this week. He was given a questionable designation on Friday. Pittman will return as the No. 2 receiver on a struggling offense, and he’s likely not back to full strength. Fantasy managers should keep him on the bench for at least one more game before getting him back into lineups.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
He was limited in practice all three days this week with a foot injury that kept him out of Week 2. We’d say Pittman is on the optimistic side of questionable based on his participation status. If he’s out again, it would likely be Germie Bernard picking up the slack, as he did in Week 2.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
It seems like he’s trending towards playing, though Mike McCarthy seemed unsure about it earlier in the week. That’s two straight limited tags for Pittman. Friday will likely determine if he winds up with a questionable tag or not.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
Pittman didn’t practice once last week, so a limited session today is a big step in the right direction. Germie Bernard took his spot in the lineup on Sunday and caught four passes for 35 yards, but he also coughed up a drop that was then intercepted by New England. The mistake all but guarantees his return to the bench once Pittman is healthy.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #11
McCarthy said Pittman is making good progress in his recovery, but noted that this is not the same injury he sustained during training camp. Pittman did not practice leading up to last week’s game against the Patriots and will likely need to log a few limited sessions to have a chance to suit up this week. Germie Bernard ended up seeing eight targets in Pittman’s absence against the Pats, but Aaron Rodgers’ dink-and-dunk style of play makes any receiver in this offense hard to trust for fantasy purposes.

The Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud reports Emeka Egbuka (concussion/foot) shed his non-contact jersey for Thursday’s practice.

There’s a good chance Egbuka has been upgraded to a full participant in practice, meaning he is making his way through the league’s concussion protocol. He remains on track to play this week after missing Week 7. With Baker Mayfield back under center, Egbuka may be able to turn around his season after a rather quiet start to the year. He is in the WR2 mix for Week 8 versus the Falcons.

Kenneth Gainwell (hip) returned to practice Thursday.

Gainwell missed Wednesday’s session with the hip issue. He will likely be listed as limited today, but that still puts him on track to play in Week 8 against the Falcons. Gainwell racked up 14 carries in a blowout win over the Panthers last week, but that hasn’t been the norm for him. Gainwell is averaging 6.4 touches per game and has topped out at three receptions in a week. He is buried in the RB4 ranks for Week 8.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Ja’Marr Chase’s ankle injury “is not considered a major deal.”

Rap isn’t breaking much news here. Chase didn’t practice on Wednesday, but the Bengals listed him as getting a rest day on top of the ankle issue. It was just a maintenance day for one of the league’s best wideouts. Chase remains in the WR1 overall mix for his Week 8 game against the Titans.

Eagles signed RB Jaydon Blue from the practice squad to the active roster.

Blue was called up as the replacement for Dameon Pierce, who was placed on injured reserve this week. Saquon Barkley entered Week 7 with a lingering hamstring issue. He then suffered a back injury and was in and out of the lineup for the remainder of the game. With little left to play for, the Eagles may choose to put their star running back on ice for a while. That would leave Blue and Elijah Mitchell as the next men up. Mitchell was the RB3 for Philly in Monday’s game, but he wasn’t signed to the active roster. Our money is on Blue seeing more work this week, though it’s a messy situation at best.

Bears acquired DT Jeffery Simmons and a fifth-round pick from the Titans in exchange for two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick.

The Titans’ fourth-round pick is in 2027 and the fifth-round pick heading back to Chicago is in 2028. It’s a massive haul for a Titans team that is once again staring down the barrel of a lost season. Simmons has been the subject of trade rumors for a while, but an offseason extension quieted the murmurs this year. Tennessee inked him to a three-year, $106 million extension in June. Simmons has consistently been one of the league’s best interior pass-rushers. He racked up a career-high 11 sacks last year and already has four to his name in 2026. Though the Titans clearly wanted Simmons to be around for years to come, they couldn’t pass on the chance to hoard draft picks as they prepare for another rebuild. With Caleb Williams healthy and playing at an elite level, the Bears are going all in on this current window. They currently rank 14th in EPA per play allowed, a mark that will certainly improve in the coming weeks.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Matthew Golden (shoulder/foot) is “trending toward playing” in Week 8 against the Panthers.

Golden was estimated as a DNP for two walkthroughs this week before being limited in the Packers’ only real session. The short turnaround to Thursday Night Football likely forced the Packers to take an extra cautious approach with him in practice. While he almost certainly isn’t at 100 percent, Golden looks like a good bet to play in a sneaky shootout with the Panthers tonight. He will be on the WR1/2 border if he gets the green light.

Michael Wilson (ribs) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Wilson was on the practice field wearing a non-contact jersey on Wednesday. He is dealing with a rib injury, presumably suffered in the Cardinals’ Week 7 loss to the Broncos. He will be limited as long as he wears the non-contact jersey and ideally finishes the week without it in order to play in Week 8 against the Cowboys. Kendrick Bourne suddenly becomes the WR1 if Wilson cannot go.

Tyler Allgeier (toe) did not practice Wednesday.

Allgeier popped up on the injury report with a toe issue as rookie Jeremiyah Love (ankle) returned to practice in a limited fashion. Though we don’t know the severity of Allgeier’s injury, it may be worth keeping Bam Knight rostered despite Love’s return. If Allgeier cannot play in Week 8 against the Cowboys, Knight will get another week of fantasy viability.

Jihaad Campbell (hamstring/quad) did not participate in Wednesday’s walkthrough practice.

Campbell came out of the Eagles’ Week 7 loss to the Cowboys dealing with hamstring and quad injuries. He starts out the week as an estimated DNP. Campbell will likely need to practice in some capacity in order to play Week 8 against the Commanders.

DeVonta Smith (hamstring) did not participate in Wednesday’s walkthrough practice.

Both Smith and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) were estimated DNPs for the Eagles’ walkthrough. Both players missed Week 7 against the Cowboys and start off on the wrong side of questionable to open Week 8. Smith and Wicks will need to at least get a limited practice session in before they can be considered as potential fantasy options against the Commanders. With Britain Covey (knee) also DNP, the receiving corps is sparse. If neither can go, Darius Cooper and Hollywood Brown get a boost from the WR group while TE Dallas Goedert becomes the No. 1 pass-catcher in the Eagles offense.
