ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the Packers are expected to hire Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley as their new defensive coordinator.
Hafley has spent four seasons as Boston College’s head coach, leading them to three seasons of bowl eligibility. His last stint in the NFL included tenures as a defensive backs coach for the Buccaneers, Browns, and 49ers from 2012-2018. The Packers recently parted ways with defensive coordinator Joe Barry and bring Hafley up from the college ranks to fill the role. With a young developing offense, head coach Matt LeFleur now makes a change for the defense to develop after a playoff berth this season.
