Dolphins signed UCLA EDGE Grayson Murphy.
Like his brother, Murphy (6’2/251) was a three star recruit who initially started 14 games at North Texas throughout his first two collegiate campaigns before transferring to UCLA with his twin brother after a strong 2021 season with 12.5 TFL and 8.5 sacks. For the Bruins, he would produce 5.0 sacks and 9.0 TFL’s in each season, with two forced fumbles to add in 2023. The Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 performer goes to a rip move frequently, but most often finds success by using his hands to stay unengaged and using his speed/agility to bend around blockers. While he is not as technically refined as his twin, an 85.2 PFF grade as a pass rusher shows he was nearly as effective. On early downs Murphy was solid, having 23 defensive stops and slashing his missed tackle rate from 31% to 10% in 2023. Despite his exceptional play and improved tackling, Murphy’s 30 ¼ inch arms will make rushing the passer and defending the run a challenge against better competition. If he can make a roster, a year of special teams play will be how he gets on the field while developing his pass rush moves.
